LG to Introduce 34-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide (Model UM95) monitor

It really is so easy dude, just use a credit card or something else thin flat and stuff to lever one side of the bezel strip carefully until it comes away and observe the bleed. Press back in to pull out further if needed!

I also think the Dell will be at the very least the same price as the LG at rrp.

I see a lot of talk about 'the Dell' (presumably U3415W). They haven't actually confirmed that it will be released. I certainly hope that they do release it and would it expect it in a few months time if they do, but don't be too disappointed if it doesn't materialise.

It HAS TO.

It all depends on the settings you want and the game you play.

Im running 2 x 290 cards overclocked to 1000/1400 and in most games im getting 60 fps at max settings, some much higher. Watchdogs for example though using a single 290 im only getting about 30fps on max settings at this res.
A single 290 or similar would be good though for high settings I would imagine on most games with a good framerate

Mine's going back for a replacement: http://imgur.com/a/sZwvU

Build date was July, so still not sorted.

That's actually not too bad...I would have just unclipped the bezel in the bottom left corner and maybe even right and you wouldn't see hardly any if any at all of that.

With mine I had 0 bleed at all and no ips glow that you could notice at the top. Just at the bottom left and right corners. Unclipped the bezel a few mm and its absolutely perfect now at the brightness im running. I don't notice any ips glow or bleed and everyone of these monitors has this. Some are worse of course but yours doesn't look too bad apart from the bottom left which you might be able to fix with the bezel trick.

seconded - its 10s to do with something rigid/thin/plastic. Comes out 1cm or so but then you push it back in - mines no more than 1mm proud of where it was and only ips glow now.

I do think some people are being over-picky about this - sure its an £800 "considered purchase" but its really not that bad and the postage/effort/inconvenience is just out of proportion to the fix-time/problem - and I suspect a lot of people are mixing some of up with IPS glow which will affect all units.

Shouldn't need to fix a £800 monitor yourself. LG have poor QA and Support (same for their TV's).

LCD lottery = Stuck/Dead Pixels and Bleed both of which today I think should be next none leaving the factory with these issues.

Yeah the fact this is fixed that way is just luck. Shouldn't need to do it in the first place and any attempt to justify it is pretty moot.

The only thing I can say on the subject is like mrk said the fix takes about 10 seconds and really does work.
yes you shouldn't have to do that on a £800 monitor but it really is very easy and All of these LG monitors suffer from ips glow and bleed in one way or another so your not going to get a perfect one and theres no AOC or DELL available yet so your stuck with LG so you can keep returning them and getting another sent out for weeks or months or just accept them for what they are apply the bezel fix if you have bleed in the bottom left or right corner and enjoy it.

It really does take 10 seconds and you don't notice the bezel being out from the front as its only by a few mm.

Hmmm just had a scary moment with my 34" UM65

Display port input suddenly went off then started to flash display on/off.
Checked GTX 780 Ti (2nd RMA replacement model brand new 2 months ago).
Checked using another new HDMI cable & got a display straight away.

Turned it off then put the original Display Port cable back in....... now it works just fine again either its very senstive or failing as the cable is a very tight fit tighter than a madonna ;)

All I did was gently knock the table the monitor is sitting on whilst its on
If it fails within 12 months I am not bothered as the place I bought it from have a zero hassle direct RMA replacement service none of this send to LG for repair BS

Agreed, returning it is annoying as it's a gorgeous bit of kit, but if I'm dropping 3x the average screen price for a supposedly premium display then I want it to be pretty much flawless (within the limits of the tech - I'm not expecting zero IPS glow).

I appreciate there's a simple workaround, but it shouldn't be my responsibility and it doesn't excuse the fact that LG clearly aren't testing these for backlight issues in QA. If it's going through calibration at the factory then they should be checking them for bleed as well.

I'm assuming the returns go straight back to LG? Hopefully if they get enough sent back they might accept there's an issue and think about improving their QA.

Close one!;)

Haven't encountered anything like that with my UM65 thus far. How are you faring with yours anyway? It seems the UM65 is either not as popular as there's very little mention of it - even on these threads

OR

it's actually pretty good so no one has to come on to complain about it :D

Flawless no complaints nothing to talk about really :D other than most Bluray movies have random stutter & when ripped to mkv its still there. Not sure if its a bandwidth issue or refresh rate related time consuming to nail down as its not on every Bluray disc I have tried but most of them at some time stutter for a few moments.

Upscaling a Bluray from 1920x1080 to 2560x1080 puts a lot of load on the CPU+GPU

Just a quick heads up, there's a seller on no competitor hinting!! with the LG Calibrator for £5.18 inc. free delivery - I thought it was a mis-price and my order would be cancelled but it's been delivered and its a brand new functioning unit, pick up a bargain quick.

Just search for ACB8300.
