LG to Introduce 34-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide (Model UM95) monitor

One easy way to get round the height adjust (or lack thereof) - wall/desk mount :p

Having literally just completed my first wall mounting operation of a monitor (with a little inspiration from mrk) I am wondering why I never did it before!

I can see why there is a lot of hate for non vesa compatible monitors now...

Can now have it flush against the wall for desk work then extend the arm at whatever angle for gaming or movie viewing, very nice indeed.

Nah, not at all. I had a 24" 1080p and 2x20" widescreen monitors in a triple display setup and to be honest didn't find it all that useful for productivity. I kept craning my neck and sitting awkwardly when using the side monitors. I've gone back to a dual display setup using the 24" and one of the 20" monitors. Like you say I found 3 monitors more hassle than it was worth.

I reckon 3 monitors it pretty much unnecessary and that a single large 21:9 monitor would be way better given how well Windows supports split screen mode. I'm planning on buying a 34" 21:9 display later this year once Dell and AOC have released their variants as I'm a bit frustrated at the lack of height adjustment on the LG and think that the competition should bring the price (especially of the non-curved ones) closer to the £500 mark.

Well I bought the 2713 from MM on here as it was going for a good price and my 2405 is old... very old and showing its age with brightness (its dull, but otherwise in mint condition).
So was going to have 2713 replace my 2407 as main screen then the 2407 to replace the 2405 as a portrait monitor to the right but got greedy and never passed the 2405 on to anyone.

My only concern is having the LG as main screen and the 27" being too large to comfortably view in portrait mode to the right.

Not sure if I'm better off selling the 2713 Dell and just having LG and going back to 24" in portrait.

As for the Dell 34" 21:9 screen It doesn't look as nice as the LG imo. the dell stand looks very big and bulky

Still loving this monitor :D one of the best PC purchases iv bought.
Always been a fan of how the LG TV's and monitors look and this one is no different.

Anyone know offhand if there are side monitors of the same dpi/height to pair with the LG.
And yes i need the real estate for work.
Currently using 20-30-20 Dells in p-l-p , and a 24 inch dell 1920*1200.

Since it has 1440 vertical pixels then you sort of get into the 27-28" range for vertical pixel count - but then you end up with something approaching 90" wide and a very sore neck. Or go for the UM65 and any 1080p monitor will do - but you get the same neck experience.

I think its a non-starter really - not needed with this sort of monitor. Aside from the GPU grunt to drive a 8,500 x 1440 pixel display :D

I think someone said 80-90 pages ago that they tried two above each other - browsing/email/im etc on the top window and games and "work" on the lower one (or the other way round might sound better). And that seemed to work quite well.

OMFG.

I am not going back to a TN panel ever again!

All I did was just use my fingers in the left and right corner and slowly pull it out and it unclipped. If you have no finger nail what so ever though just use a credit card.

This is how much I unclipped

Aaaaaaaand mines getting returned...

Backlight bleed isn't as bad in person as the photo makes out but that purple T you see in the middle is persistent and VERY annoying!

Since there are a few here who have calibrated their monitor properly, could you do me a favour please.

See with cinema preset mode, do you guys find the gamma a bit too low i.e. too dark? If so, what gamma setting in AMD/nvidia control panel is the closest to the calibrated setting?

ATM, I am using 1.05 in CCC.

Also, see for this calibration image:

How visible are the grooves/bars on the light saber?

Thanks.

If you have calibrated your screen then you should not be changing to any other mode as that completely wipes away any calibration. Also do not change any gamma values in any graphics screens of the display driver as that too will wipe away any benefit from calibrating.

The lightsaber's handles are detailed at visible for me, all grooves are discernible.
