I don't have a calibrator or specific calibration settings so I am just using the cinema preset mode as supposedly it is the closest to a properly calibrated screen, however, I find the image to be too dark i.e. can't see enough detail in the shadows/darker areas, not sure how well this will come across:
But the parts highlighted in red are the grooves I am talking about. If I up the gamma to 1.10, they are more visible but with the completely default cinema preset setting, you can't make the parts in the red circle out at all (well you can if you look closely enough....)

Also, you notice the darkness/gamma quite well on these forums with the black/grey stylish theme, with cinema preset, the theme is more black than the "supposed" dark grey colour

PS. what "ratio" setting do you use? In the OSD menu.
