LG to Introduce 34-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide (Model UM95) monitor

Me! Although only for the PS3 as sometimes I take timeout from editing and power up the console for a quick game :p Can't imagine any bundled HDMI being 5 metres though.

What cable are you guys ordering assuming the German boxes don't come with DisplayPort cables?

Edit*
mrk that cable will work @ 1440p.

Sweet, scratch what I asked above then :D

I don't really play too many shooters.

I miss 120HZ for desktop, it just feels soooo much nicer than 60HZ.

I don't like that I can't change the aspect ratio in a lot of games, so even though it's 2560x1080, it doesn't look like it should, unlike Dirt 3 which when put to "auto" worked and looked VERY good, easily the most immersive gaming I've experienced.

Netflix is now unusable on some films too.

Take Real Steel, I expected that to work nigh on perfect, spanning correctly (As it has black bars on the top and bottom on 16:9). Oh no... it just black bars all around now, and I can't see a way to change the aspect ratio.

When it works 100% correctly, it's amazing, but so far I've managed that in two of about 10 things tried.

Does this help explain WSGF could not get real steel to play either you need display zoom on the monitor? Everyone should watch this video as there are a lot of cool things explained. Infact if one of you sticky two important points on the forum here it would help people. Step 1 is always use displayport for 10bit. Step two watch this youtube video to learn how to manage aspect ratio for movies.

Just a bit of info when using DisplayPort...

One annoying thing that I've found is that when you switch the screen off while the PC is running/or have the screen off before you wake the PC out off sleep - all your windows (browser, explorer etc) resize to some silly small size like 800x600.

Running Dell U2711/Windows 7

It maybe ok with this monitor...but I believe it's a problem with DP itself.

From what I can tell, it's only telling me what I already know :p?

His monitor allows him to stretch Real Steel, but not as you should be able to, my asus can't do that I don't think.

Sorry yea i had to edit it to tell you the reason why was no zoom at monitor level. Maybe in time more will add options i think itunes had no problems he had LOTR rented in ultrawide.

It's not an issue if the movie you're playing is in players like MPC-HC whereby the numpad (or whatever you assign in options) can be used to pan and zoom the video to properly fill in the whole screen as opposed to the usual "stretching" method used by hardware scaling so Real Steel could in fact be zoomed in fully to remove letterbox and windowbox.

Indeed appaling that there is no aspect or scaling and just a dumb flash stream. Even itunes can do it apparantly. Not only that the pictures crap. Why would anyone use Netflix over Lovefilm rentals by post or just DL HD rips for lovely VLC.

See and they want to combat piracy yet this is the poop u gotta pay for lmao. I get all the blurays i could ever want by post for £4 a month. Cant beat it with a 20ft stick when some of them come in native 2:40:1.

The site said 4-5 days but it's German post and DHL so I imagine 2-3 days? :p It will likely hit the UK tomorrow or tonight and our customs/postal system will sit on it for another couple days as is the case usually.

Pics and mini review will be posted although I don't have any 21:9 to compare with so will have to use my 27" although I've already found a buyer for that so depends on how soon they want to take that off my hands :p
