LG to Introduce 34-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide (Model UM95) monitor

I have a similar question to what Lartyconshayo asked above...

How would my Windforce 7970 cope running games at this sort of res? I plan to upgrade later in the year anyway but I'd like to know what I can expect.

Also, with me only having DVI, HDMI and Mini Displayport available. Would this run at 60hz using a minidisplay to displayport adapter cable?

What a great looking monitor though. I must have watched the Linus review about ten times.

Hopefully one day they will improve and work a lot closer with OcUK to bring nice monitors like this sooner and at better prices.

Work with Dell and bypass LG please. OCUK exlusive on a Gsync Dell U3415W (same monitor) and sell it here and make a fortune. You guys know some engineers in china as well you could probably pull it off but wont ><

Also guys on Freesync can the LG work with it or does it need the firmware/driver/tweak now for VBLANK? Or can we just magically see it work once AMD release it on DP 1.2A. And this monitor has DP 1.2A right?

anyone recommend a (a) a deskmount for this ? and (b) assuming I'm not pushing FPS type games and really want it for cinema will a 7870 2GB cut the mustard on this bad boy ?

An Ergotron LX is spot on what you want. I have an MX as my current monitor is rather thick and heavy but the 34um95 is thin and much lighter, so the LX would work great.

The only thing that concerns me with this is the input lag..... as long as its comparable to my PB278Q ill be happy..............

Some of LG other monitor's had a THROUGH MODE which kept input lag to a minimum by bypassing some of the electronics but i can't see this mentioned in the manual for the UM95 but it does mention a game mode option.

Sure we will find out soon enough :)

Couldn't find many decent wallpapers online at this kind of native resolution so... used my own photos

3440x1440 wallpaper rotation set, now just need to wait for the damn thing to arrive!

In case anyone was wondering about how these over clock. I asked over on hardforum and 2 users report it won't go past 62hz!

Make of that what you will, but that puts me off a little bit. My dell u29 clocks to 75hz (which uses an lg panel) so I thought these might be the same, or even better perhaps. I'm starting to think I might just keeps my 'mini' super wide and get the rog swift when it lands now. The gsync and extra Hz will be very new things to me, for me to play with.

Well I game happily on my iMac and I believe that is 60hz. Either way I'm not a big gamer. Most if it will be used for editing and motion graphics. Now I can have them both open!

Purely for editing / photography / graphics work it's a brilliant screen no doubt. Thing is it's also extremely attractive for gaming, even 'just' at 60hz, but if it has the ability to overclock a bit that would be even better obviously. And I thought it would, given the previous gen of 2560 x 1080 super wides do. My dell does and I think the AOC super wides clock even higher.

No problem with gaming at 60Hz here, I game almost every night. 1440P mind.

You're like me I bet. I've been gaming at 60hz, 60fps for years and thought I was perfectly happy. It's only recently I've started to think about dabbling with higher Hz and looking into it, and asking around on these monitor forums actually.

Even with a modest monitor overclock and running some games at 75fps, 75hz I can tell a noticeable difference in smoothness so gaming at 120hz on a decent monitor must be amazing. This is my new dilemma :)

Oh I don't even use Vsync _ As I said before I don't need it for the games I play and don't see tearing! Most of my games ruin at 100-200fps anyway. In the heat of the moment, if there is tearing it's not noticed.

Never tried a higher-than-60Hz monitor myself. So I'm currently not sure what the fuss is about. Though with anything visual you can never dismiss it until you've seen it. It's like with games; screenshots always look dreadful until you see the game in motion.

@mrk So you know you want to host your images somewhere so I have something to put on my desktop when the monitor arrives, right? :) Edit: just had a look at your Flickr, damn I love the variety in your style and choice of subjects.

Someone over on HardForum just took delivery of his monitor and it appeared to have some major backlight QC issues. I hope OCUK would honour returns if the thing looks like that.
