LG to Introduce 34-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide (Model UM95) monitor

The lg looks tiny im afraid ill be very disappointed if i switch from my 30"
Panel wise the Lg and a 27 inch screen (16:9) are exactly the same height - check out displaywars. The photo is probably a little out of perspective and combined with the very slight bezel the lg does look smaller (or shorter) but it's the same.

What games did you struggle 21:9 AWPC? I'm finding it's mainly GFWL games that suck with 21:9 (And "From" aren't great PC coders, so I don't expect 21:9 support there to work properly)

Aside from some menu problems, I've found 21:9 pretty good. SWTOR was perfect 21:9. Fifa 14's immense, seeing more of the pitch, I'm making some ridiculously good through balls.

Even playing Racoon City had proper 21:9 support for the game, running at 72hz it's really a nice experience.

Witcher 1 I'm playing through at the moment works fine for the most part if you lower lighting settings.

Watching Blu-rays is insane too, and anything that's 16:9 I just watch on the 23.5" Sammy, any games that don't work 21:9 I just stream to the Ultrabook 1080p at 16:9.
Any games which have forced 16:9 mate too many to list its just easier to say unless its uses Unreal Engine 3 a lot of games need to be played 16:9 or you get the wrong aspect ratio shape.

Hi Mrk, what do you think of this review, particularly their colour-calibrated section. Didn't you succeed in achieving 2.2 gamma?

.. Looks like you've already seen it over at HardForum.

Yup I got 2.2 gamma along with 0.x deviation between the other expected results. That review uses a Spyder probe which is known for its contrast ratio measurement issues anyway as a few have mentioned earlier. They also keep going on about it not being wide gamut. I wouldn't put much value into that review.

Oh great. Learned my lesson not to cheap out on delivery. The UPS Access Point I chose decided to refuse the package. Now trying to reschedule it to my house for when I'm actually in.

All running now.

The moto g is picking up glare but it's not on the screen. I take it there's a plastic cover to removed from the screen ?

Heh i am going to stop looking because the size will make me jealous. I just pulled the trigger on the 29" AOC instead to keep me going until christmas and i will see what happens. It is reduced to £275 all in for 2560x1080 at possibly 75hz i cannott really say no when they offered free postage to Ireland.

Me and the LG might have a date next year with higher refreshes lets hope.

how can an access point refuse delivery ??

The access point I chose doesn't actually appear on the UPS website, so I'm thinking they recently decided not to be one. Oh well.. Rescheduled for Friday, when I'm actually in, as I'll be at the Nine Inch Nails gig in London later on! Awwh yiss.

Lighting installed :)

Lightpack team are slow at responding to emails, have filed a PayPal dispute and they have 20days to sort it else I go via PayPal claims and get my money back.

the LED strip cost less than £6. Bargain, lots of light!

I use those light strips on my screens but have had issues with the cable end peeling away, I notice you seem to have solved this with that little holder, where did you get them from as I could do with adding a couple?

They're just little stick on plastic loop anchors that you can feed a cable tie through and use to keep ends in check for stuff like those LED strips.

Should be able to find them in hardware stores locally or pound shops. Failing that just use a small strip of 3m double sided pad and fold over to keep the cable end in place.

a lot of people seeing this just won't grasp how big this monitor is.

I have a 27" and only just sitting back and thinking about it now realise what a monster this must be on a desk.
