LG to Introduce 34-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide (Model UM95) monitor

I'm not sure I follow. How can it be a strange resolution 'for 21:9'. The fact is, it is 21:9 and therefore the ratio of horizontal to vertical pixels is exactly the same as on every other 21:9 monitor. 3440 x 1440 pixels and a screen that is extremely wide comparative to its height.

Well have seen the UM65-P model floating around for roughly £550 on preorder, not too bad if you don't want your gfx card/s hammering ;)

Be some nice real estate too, think I'm still gonna give it a few months for the competition to catch up :D

The only place ive seen it for sale is from South Korea, so import taxes on top it would be north of £1k which would be a deal breaker for me... If it pops up at £850 UK price I will get one if it's available before the Asus gsync one

Indeed. As a current owner of the Dell 29" 21:9 superwide (2560x1080), I'm really interested in this new line. 21:9 is brilliant for gaming, but for desktop stuff I really am craving a bit more vertical height, and 1440 is a much nicer figure.

4k screens are just too much strain on current GPU's but I reckon my Ti's should be able to handle this badboy at 3440x1440.

4k screens: 3840x2160 = 8,294400 pixels to push around

34" super wides: 3440 x 1440 = 4,953600 pixels to push around

I'm predicting an £899 price release in the UK, but then prices will come down. I think I'll wait to see what happens. Lots of exciting monitor stuff happening with these, 4k and gsync...

I've decided to give it 6 months or so. let the prices level out as they have with the current line (more competition etc). Not like I'm slumming it with a HP ZR30w on the go :p :D

8 bit panel, 1440p vertical. That's more like what I want :D

I'l be definitely looking to get one of those if the price is reasonable. Will sell both 24 and 27" Dells for it.

Edit*
Oh it's 10bit, hmm...

Yeah just noticed I read it wrong. Still, if the colour accuracy is good as they claim then it should be better in sRGB applications than current monitors emulating sRGB I suppose.

This would look amazing on my Ergotron MX.

Ooh mamma. Almost convinced myself yesterday I didn't want to upgrade to this. ****.

The only thing holding me back is Gsync. This size panel, ips, the fact it's 10 bit for photo work, if they had one with gsync it would be THE perfect monitor for me.

Edit - look ing on the specs page it's 8bit + FRC, so not true 10 bit. I'm no expert on this though and what it all means but with my scant knowledge, for many I see that as probably an actual advantage.
