LG to Introduce 34-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide (Model UM95) monitor

Response time is set to high for mine but I don't have a black level or ECO mode. I do have power saving mode but it's off and greyed out as the LG calibration software controls all the OSD stuff during calibration.

Also, post pics!

Ah ok, strange that! Thanks anyway! :)

I will just turn eco "of" and set black level to "low".

Will do! But of course won't look anywhere as good as your photos! :(

Black level is an HDMI setting. You shouldn't have that option over DisplayPort or DVI, which I assume you are using to get the correct native aspect ratio of the display.

Using HDMI :o

Don't have a display port cable and only got 1 DVI connection on my GPU which is being used for my other monitor (only has DVI and VGA)

Aspect ratio looks fine on my monitor so far with HDMI though

21:9 support was something that was added to HDMI 2.0 and wasn't there in previous versions of the specification such as 1.4 being used here. You will be seeing 16:9 stretched across the display most likely. These monitors still handle that interpolation reasonably well but things will look even better if you use DVI.

If you have a Dual-Link DVI cable (one may come with the monitor I believe) use it and you should see a difference. What is your other monitor model?

Ah damn! Display port work fine? If so, any particular cable I should get?

My other monitor is the Samsung Syncmaster 930BF, very old! :p

And I only got a HDMI cable with this monitor.

You could use an HDMI to DVI cable for the Samsung to free up the DVI port on your GPU. But DisplayPort will work just fine, yes. Did a DP cable come with the monitor? If not any simple DP cable of an appropriate length for your setup (OcUK sell a few, some are out of stock though) will be fine.

Hmmm, I think I might have one of those lying around somewhere! If not, I'll just get a display port cable. Thanks :)

And nope, only a HDMI cable came :(

This is the backlight bleed on the bottom and top left.

20% brightness:

100% brightness:

Had a skim through some "dark" film scenes i.e. gravity and it rather noticeable.

What do you guys think? Replace or not?

More bloody white than black if you ask me

What was your exposure time for that 20% brightness pic?

Here's a shot of mine with phone camera:

I don't see any noticeable backlight bleed but when moving around there is orange IPS glow which as we all know is expected of any IP screen.

Edit*
15% brightness btw (calibrated again tonight).

Both were 1/10

Yours looks perfect! :(

And yup I get that same ips glow effect when moving around, unfortunately the backlight bleed as shown in the above pics is visible even heads on :(

1/15s for my pic above. Hmm weird. In person mine isn't pitch black as you can still tell there's a backlight there as per the nature of WLED/CCFL backliighting. I would try getting a swap perhaps. What is your contrast set to btw too?
