LG to Introduce 34-inch IPS 21:9 UltraWide (Model UM95) monitor

Hi there guys I wonder if any of you have experience with 34UM65-P as I'm looking forward to buy it BUT I have few questions:
1. About LG's warranty is it valid in UK as some models are from abroad?
2. Also I'm worried about some of the issues raised here already, and say I got and issue with monitor can I deal with OCUK for a straight replacement or should I contact Lg instead?
3. Also I saw many people having problem with LG's replacements why dont they contact overclockers instead, does 14 Days / Satisfaction Guaranteed apply to this monitor with 30 days Replacement if faulty?
It would be great if you guys can help as I'm very tempted to buy this monitor but I'm little bit worried about warranty in case something happens

by law in the UK, you HAVE to deal with the retailer you bought it from and they can't fob you off to the manufacturer

and yes, OCUK have a 14 day unwanted policy over and above the 7 day after the day you receive it you get with DSR (you also only need to notify within 7 days, so regardless of any faults, if you were worried you could email them to say you want to return it, and then if you decide to keep it, don't send it back and let them know you are keeping it)

Isn't it by law the retailer has to deal with you? You're free to go to the manufacturer if you wish though however.

Yes, as I understand it the choice is yours, but the retailer is obligated to honour any request for service within a set period, probably 12 months.

I've been wrong before though :p

It's actually 14 days by law for all retailers now.

oh yeah, changed a few days ago - though I notice they've also changed the rules about not having to refund postage in full if you paid extra for "enhanced" delivery, and you have to return goods within another 14 days as well

and that they can now charge you for "handling goods more than neccessary", which will be an interesting one to see tested

if you go direct to the manufacturer (without contacting the retailer first) the retailer can then basically wash their hands of the whole thing if the manufacturer just makes things worse, and as your contract is with the retailer, the manufacturer is under no real legal obligation to sort things out, you should always always go direct to the retailer - and if the retailer tells you to go to the manufacturer then get it in writing so that if the manufacturer doesn't sort it you can still do small claims or whatever if the retailer starts getting shirty

Thank you for your reply, I really appreciate it. However did any of forum member have experience with lg's 34um65-p is and do you think this monitor is worth it?

I impulse purchased the 34UM65 last Thursday. Got it set up over the weekend and I have to say I am very happy with it. I have some slight bleed bottom left, but no worse than other screens I have used and I don't notice it at all when gaming, even in dark areas. No dead/lazy pixels, and am using it at default settings out of the box so far.

Also, the thing is huge! :p

Edit: Added crappy phone pic taken in the pitch dark.

Nice picture glad you like it :)

What game is that??

Thanks BubbySoup for your reply. May I ask you a question where is your monitor came from as some are from eg Germany and have German Warranty. Also if you can, can you post an image of monitor on in daytime? If you can that would be great.

Lastyl question to all about 14 day unwanted policy, does it mean I can return item for full refund without giving reason e.g I don like it? Also lets say if my monitor comes with one dead pixel in the middle of the screen and itn's cover under replacment warranty because not enough dead pixels can I still return it under 14 day unwanted policy ?

Yes you could return it for absolutely any reason under the 14 day DSR - you don't need to give a reason. You will need to pay return postage though.

Hi guys

I am now on my second LG 34UM95-P I bought it to go with my trash can Mac Pro and PC.

The display is awesome for the audio editing / recording work I do but I think I may have a issue with the USB ports on the monitor and would like to ask a massive favour and see if anyone here could test something for me ?

My issue is that I have the display connected over thunder bolt to the Mac Pro and then I put a USB self powered drive or SSD in a enclosure connected to the USB 3 port.

I can then see the drive but can't use it it will actually crash my Mac Pro and I need to hot plug the drives to get the mac running again

I have spoken with Over Clockers who I have bought it form and they are having the same issue on PC

I can use it if I use a USB data + power cable and connect to 2 ports on the monitor then the drives work fine.

Spoke with LG t and they told me that there is no known issues doing what I describe ( i am now waiting to hear back from them again since this is the 3rd monitor I know of with this issue )

Has any one else ran into this problem or could perhaps please test it with a few USB 3 self powered drives?

I've tried Samsung evo SSD's in various enclosures OCZ vertex 460 drives in various enclosures , WD my passports , WD elements , oand a load of other various drives but all the same issue unless they are mains powered or I use the double cable.

Pen drives seem to work fine as do keyboard or mouse.

Would really appreciate if anyone else could test there ports with a few drives?

Thanks to all for any help.

Oh and for anyone interested in seeing the monitor in my setup it is here

My replacement Asus MX299Q is due tomorrow, to replace the previous one after the metal strip across the bottom of the screen " popped off ", quite literally.

I came downstairs last Saturday morning and it was laying on my keyboard...

These 29" panels are cursed :p
