Listening to the covid inquiry

Apparently even the smallest changes such as actually having hand sanitiser between the cabinet office and the meeting rooms took weeks to implement. It's almost as if they thought it was a disease for poor people or something, like Politicians couldn't get it.

The “People’s Princess” tribute of the shaking of hands, then getting C19 was the crowning glory. Shame he’s not followed the theme and gone landmine clearing.

Well it’s interesting that the people with all the facts were so casual about getting it..

I don’t think anyone that got to wfh throughout really gets to lecture those that had no choice but to go in everyday...

Also why didn’t these hindsight whistle blowers do anything about it at the time…

I think some of these 'hindsight whistle blowers' were trying to do something about it at the time, their views are recorded in whatsapp messages, the only real record we seem to have. Helen MacNamara already stated today how much the place was filled with toxic machismo. How many people would put their head above the parapet?

Please lets not stoop to the level of trolling such an important topic.

she does seem to have a significant grievance(axe to grind) with cummings on his derisory attitude on patel employment tribunal, and , oversall it's another subjective opinion, from a by-stander,
I don't see how she had time to compile this large 100+ page testament.

If only there were some female ministers in position through merit, but post May, we've had Patel,Truss, Suella none of whom have glowing records - maybe the comptent women aren't their because they know it is a toxic environment - catch-22

I wonder if there are any people out there believing Boris Johnson and his denial of claims he wanted to "let the virus rip".

Who to believe? The top scientist who made concurrent notes, or the lifelong liar who happens to have lost all his messages from that time?

What this enquiry needs is a WhatsApp expert who presses a big “bull-” button every time a minister claims they lost their WhatsApp messages due to a phone change/reset/battery running out.

I've not heard such moronic questioning for a long time as the last couple of hours on the enquiry have been. Repetitive and attempting to accept points that have not been made. We will see what the enquiry makes of it but the judge seemed a bit underwhelmed by some of it.

No - WhatsApp messages should either be formally accepted as a government communication method and backed up and stored in the same way as e-mail or they should not be considered as part of the public record and should be disregarded from these enquiries.

It seems ridiculous to me that any government business is done via an app owned by the biggest corporate spyware supplier in the world, but there you go..

The ship has sailed on the COVID enquiry (or inquiry). There's no need for it.

Also, I can't vote for any of the current parties in next year's election - it will be the first time ever for me. The King needs to throw out Parliament and start afresh with a new set of electable parties that we can vote for.
Hahaha.

Always entertaining when we see someone who's fallen for the "Don't judge me in the midst of this crisis... Now the crisis is over, it's too late to judge me" maneuver!

You'd do well taking a minute to read about end-to-end encryption and Open Whisper Systems Signal Protocol.

I've never voted because as a young lad I saw it was pointless because whoever you vote for don't do what they say they are going to do, it's just a big game adults keep falling for.
I then get "Well if you don't vote you don't get a say", this has got to be the most moronic thing somebody can say because I pay my taxes so I deserve a say on how crap they all are.

You pay your taxes? The Con party is definitely not for you then. As for the enquiry, it has no teeth does it so nobody really cares. We all know BJ is a liar, but he's still off making millions regardless. Some people would even vote for him again.

I reckon most people who voted for him last time would vote again. You'd be surprised.
