Guys what's the deal with Staffs connection?

When I go can I use Xbox live? lol

This kinda thing tickles me, it used to matter to me too if I could play quakeworld or not over the connection :p

If you go prepared that you'll be firewalled to hell and back or saturated to another hell and back so that your games will not work.

Mine didn't, and it never bothered me in the slightest after like a week.

I wont have any friends. I was meant to go this year but I got a UU in my course so by the time I have the grades I will be 20.

So I need online gaming :p

I'm leaving my gaming rig at home during freshers week, and sticking with a crapass laptop to check emails. (It's no use for anything else)

Then once everyone loves me i can bring the rig in, but not have any incentive to play it :D

EDIT: Too easily to be unsocial with a top spec computer sitting in your room.

Good on you.

Uni is about socialising, meeting new people and having new experiences.

Its not about playing BF2 all day...

BF2s no fun unless it's a server full of your mates anyway :p

I have the WoW and CSS and Oblivion bug :(

I remember during my time at uni there would be people who would turn up at Final exams and everyone would be like 'Who on earth is that?'

Generally someone who'd spent 3 years in the computer room.....a crying shame when there's so much subsidised booze on offer.....

Totally agree.

 @ the guy taking TWO rigs! If all you do is play games on your PC during freshers week i can confidently say that that is all you'll be doing for the rest of the year.

Just because you're taking a gaming rig with you doesn't mean you won't socialize :p

I'm taking a Quad SLI rig with me, and a nice 24" screen to boot, but it's not like I plan to miss all the fresher's week stuff. I am nervous about it all since i'm a bit shy etc. etc, but don't intend to not do anythign except play games. It's just somethign graet to have and you can play when you feel like!

I move in a week on Saturday. Looking forward to it.

I think I'll be without a computer for the first few day at least. I'm not going to take my dinosaur of a pc with me, but I'm planning to get a Macbook of some sort when I'm there. Should make me extra sociable :)

I realised a few days that I've forgotten all of the maths I did at school though. Damn gap year :/

Im taking two rigs, my ubah gaming rig and my linux laptop, just because you are a computer enthusiast doesnt mean you arent going to enjoy freshers week! Regardless, who the HELL states that during freshers week you Must Go Out Every Night And Get Drunk. Each to their own

You dont have to get drunk, but going out and socialising with the people you are going to spend the next few years with WOULD be a good idea.... Oviously SOME people arent excited about Freshers Week

/cue Locrian sat in his room for the next 3 years ;)

1. It's an unwritten rule. Staying in during freshers week is simply not done. 2. it's only a week, I'm sure you can cope :).
