Living in University Halls

That's exactly how the system worked with us. Only reason I got into trouble was because the head warden was a **** and the wardens I became friends with agreed:D

Annoying isn't it? Thankfully halls wardens were pushovers, but my mate in another hall had awful wardens, sounding very similar to yours.

They were fined for pretty much anything and were always being told about the noise.

we had a warden like that , on Halloween we all put the girls tights over our heads so he couldn't see us then locked him in the store cupboard in another hall. and what was best.....well he didn't know who it was :D oh and we kept throwing eggs through the vent in the cupboard just to wind him up :p

if someones got their music on really loud and wont turn it down just buy something like this

and play some nice white noise at unbearable volumes, then go out! either that or play them the brown noise!

here may help

ha ha. My first day of uni my now mate of 3 years+ walked into the kitchen and filled a pan with olive oil then added 1/2 a bag of frozen chips, turned the hob onto 6 and want went back to his room! safe!

You cant beat the occasional pizza thats been cooked at 250 for 14 hours!! a 12" was reduced to the size of a low quality cooked burger!

check out this chicken that was cooked for around 15hours when we went to loveleeds this year

They don't have the concept of time or can they simply can't read?

I love the way how everyone is trying to portray the image that the new students will be having sex every other night, also giving advice like “Don't take your computer as there will be no time” rubbish, trust me, your PC is essential! Especially when there are no parties or when an essay has to be in and you haven’t started it yet!!

Sure there will be lots and lots of parties for the first couple of weeks and probably some sex, but the parties will die down after a few weeks (usually a couple a week from my experience) and I wouldn’t expect to get laid a lot either! As it doesn’t happen nearly as often as its been mentioned in this thread.

If your going to uni thinking its just going to be one big party, where everyone gets laid/drunk and has a laugh, your going to be disappointed, now that your away from your parents (first time?) your now going to have to look after yourself, also you will spend a large amount of time studying, after all that’s that whole reason your at uni.

Unless your either A) Loaded/Rich B) Have Saved your pocket money for the last decade or C) Joint bank account with Parents, your simply not going to be able to afford to party as much as you like. Your student loan looks good when you first look at it on the cash machine, then once you start buying things you need i.e. food, clothes, rent ect .. your disposable income takes a drastic decline. :) Sorry to put a realistic coment to this thread :p

Edit// Study Skills Handbook by Stella Cotrell, superb book to inform you about student life, includes the structures for essays/reports and lots of other useful information. Costs around £12 :)

lies! i got laid almost 4 times a week this year  then i got a gf and it died down to twice a week :o

this thread has got me all excited about uni now, well looking foward to it

so you should , it WILL be the best time of your life!

also i dunno if your aloud to paint your room , but i took some blue paint and painted my room

dunno if its been mentioned but make sure you have a mini fridge in your room and lots of power extension blocks , you'll be needing them

Some advice that could well be important...

Don't behave like a phallus.

  • Don't steal people's food out of the fridge.
  • Don't make noise late at night when people are trying to sleep. Sure, it's OK to clatter in at 3am and fall into bed, but it's quite another to play corridor football till 5am and keep everyone up.
  • If you still do the above and someone asks you to be quiet, shut the hell up and go to bed.
  • If you make a mess, clean it up. My brother shared a room with a donglord who chucked up behind the radiator and refused to clean it up because "We're students man, this is what it's supposed to be like".

stuff nicked from skips is always fun. we managed to acquire a bicycle sized for a 4 year old child and a barbie scooter.

cue 4am races on the roads around our student village with cheering crowds.....

i've got my self a new mode of transport for september :D i've stolen my sisters scooter thing that you can fold up :D

im gonna ride around the halls on it  customize it with some stickers too :D

lol, quite the opposite, my flatmate stole her brothers when we were in halls. Was a great laugh, not just going round corridors, but also to the vending machines.
