Long time no see. Upgrade time.

Its not questionable it's duff.

It's never been right since I put it in. First it refused to go to the 3600 until I updated the BIOS and after that and it finally going to 3600 the PC took over 3 minutes to boot into Windows and would hang every now and then. Just enough to make you question whether it's the RAM, and of course taking other things into account like the dead RGB software and lots of other things like the Lian Li software etc.

Turns out it was indeed the memory. Thankfully the RGB software now works so the RGB is not annoying but a nice bonus instead.

The CNC is running. Of course I messed up and snapped the first bit. Kinda like it was saying "Welcome back, ahole".

I also recovered the wrist pad for the Huntsman yesterday. Got over the sick things about 4 days ago, but have been making the house Christmas like.

I wish. No it is more of me spending two hours moving furniture to make the room accessible for mum only for her to say "I don't like it, put it back". Ungrateful mare.

She didn't want a Christmas tree as it would be in the way of the rad. So I fixed that, but her vanity kicked in ffs. Oh well. I've also been to Marks with her to get all our food and been the cart horse etc etc. Running around Marks like I had crapped my pants trying to find things whilst she barked out her orders.

I need a holiday lmao.

I'm off home for a week and a bit next Tues. So hopefully I will return home with plenty to do. Got a new vacuum cleaner to set up and play with too (very expensive, not cordless, not bagless). Cordless hoovers are poo. They don't do anything particularly well, and need constant fiddling and maintenance. IE their sensors say they are blocked and you have to literally have it to bits and remove every grain of dust. Sod that.

It's a wee bit fragile.

Won't be once it is on the back.

And with the front on.

I was going to take it home with me (where the soldering tools are) and finish it. There are a few flies in the ointment, though.

Firstly I bought a new vacuum cleaner. I know, side quest.. But cordless vacuums are rubbish. They don't do anything particularly well, and need constant attention or they refuse to work. Kinda like a modern car with all the stupid sensors. So I bought a serious one. The Festool of vacuums.

It's considerably heavy. To the point where I really shouldn't try lugging anything else. As such I am going to bring the tools back with me when I return (on the 19th Dec) and do it when Christmas gets boring as it inevitably does. I also have a ton to do like putting up curtains etc, as well as the fact I dragged my old Xbox1x out of storage and got back into Fallout 3. To add to that I also bought the new Indiana Jones game. Looks absolutely brill.

As such I am going to do the curtains, then just couch potato a lot mixed with lots of vacuuming. After 6 years in my flat all I can see on the carpet now are foot traffic marks. Like I said, the cordless ones do pick up life's detritus but they don't brush properly. (and yes, I am OCD and yes, I love hoovers more than I should due to my autism. Nothing beats a good loud one drowning out all other sounds).

So if I don't see you before Happy Christmas. Have a good one, and stay safe (these winds are ridiculous tbf).

Interesting, I know Sebo have a good reputation as well but I've been evangelising for Miele ever since I got my C3.

Saying that, the telescoping wand now slips after a few years of use which is annoying...

I need an upright. Is yours a pull along?

Small flat with many fire doors so my animal would constantly fall over and get stuck in the door openings. Proper workout that.

Best I've ever had was my Oreck. Super light and proper powerful.

Sick again.

Cold this time I reckon. FFS.

Retail therapy needed.

Better.

The Strimer is for the two 8 pin EPS. I will need to buy some black extensions (the cables are too short to fit that well) but that will cost peanuts. Lian Li do not make one for EPS, so I reckon I can make my own. The screen? not sure whether inside or outside yet.

OK so the screen and Strimer came in. Thanks OCUK. The screen was brand new, not B grade. Sealed and all. And it is gorgeous. I mean, tbh, it is nothing more than a £40 screen in a "water block esque" dress but it is bloody lovely.

I then ordered some Thermaltake cable extensions in black. Full kit, lots of them, 20 quid. Sadly they are far too thick. I then thought maybe I could remove the braiding but they are white inside. Bugger it !

So as of that I am stumped rn. I am also still pretty sick coughing and sneezing etc. I will probably assemble and solder the front feature thing on Sunday, though don't quote me on that I may just sit on my backside eating cheesy poofs.

OK finally some more done. My screen and the cable (Strimer) arrived. I bought some extensions but they are too thick for the Strimer LED things. I need to make some cables no doubt.

Any way, for now I am back on the "feature" LED RGB thing. I have now finished the middle piece, and drilled tapped and countersunk it. The back is now removable.

Quite terrifying but I basically clamped the two together after marking out the 3mm back (lots of clamps) then drilled through both to 2.5mm, then removed the back and drilled it to 3.2mm and countersunk, before finally putting a M3 tap in the drill and tapping the holes in the middle part.

The top face part will be glued down to the middle part later. I need to fix in the wood and carbon permanently first.

I did bring all my soldering tools with me, so there is that.

Upgrade time *does the dance, pointing fingers in the air*.

Only before I did that I had a dream.....

See, many years ago I had the most baller N64 setup a man could have. I had this.

KgDDj4R.jpg

I also had the 240 slot game save cart AND the cart memory upgrade (so you could play the 32m games). It cost a fortune. Import Jap N64 etc. Any way, I sold it to my cousin in 2002 and he still has it. Every time I see the little **** he promises I can have it back, then he vanishes again. TBH he always was a sneaky lying little sod but yeah. He knows how to get a response.

So two nights ago I had a dream I had my setup back. Not only did it include the import Jap N64 but also the water melon one. See, when I got to the USA I realised they had no SCART and my console was RGB modded with a SCART cable so did not work over AV. So I ended up with both. As such one must follow their dreams so I bought a Jap console to mod, a water melon shell, Ever Drive clone, AV upscaler and etc. That will be a nice project.

However, I also decided I may as well upgrade the PC. And so it began.

If it wasn't for that specific board I prolly wouldn't have bothered. Now as it is the low fat one (B760) it is quite bare down below but the GPU will cover all that any way. OK so CPU. Again, I am not going nuts I have 3 PCs to keep up to date and it gets ruddy expensive. 14600k from OCUK, 229.

With a free £50 game. Bargain. Then of course I needed RAM. Who knew Acer make RAM now?

First rig going onto DDR5. From a 11700k it will be a huge upgrade. However, as Intel 1700 I must have this.

And then of course we can't stop there now can we.

And finally another one of these.

The only downside is I had to order from two places and I hate ordering from multiple vendors. Ah well. Will be worth it in the end.
