I used to be in GD quite a bit, but recently it has gone downhill with spammers and just general rubbish. Hopefully this part of the forum does not go the same way.

EXIF can be faked, he needs to photograph the camera with this thread in the background or something

Sounds like he knows someone at Canon, recently a friend of mine picked one up for a similar price, unfortunately he couldn't get another for moi!
