LOST..... How do you think it will end

Case in point:

This kind of response to the ending is what I am afraid of becoming almost the norm. A ton of people on my facebook just didn't get it at all. People of OCUK posting in this thread though are generally of a higher understanding of Lost so I don't expect many people posting in here to not really understand it. I was just referring to the masses who will probably say:

SEE I TOLD U DEY WAZ DED ALL ALONG INNIT

:p

Yes, I fear a lot a people will not understand it, but I'm a massive Lost fan, and unless I'm very much mistaken I do understand the ending. And I'm not saying I don't like it, it just doesn't give the closure I was hoping for.

And as I say, I know the MiB name isn't important, it just annoys me that the creators seemed to make a mystery out of everything, but this really didn't need to be one, I will learn to deal with it though :p

I just feel like the first 4 series were forgotten about, and the only tangible link is that MiB / Smokey has been in it all a long, actually helping the losties, for his own gain of course.

All the stuff with the 'Others', Darma, Time Travel, etc all seems a little bit pointless now... don't you think?!

And why did some people have special powers? Did I miss something there?

Again, I wasn't really expecting answers to everything, and these probably aren't that important, but it would have been nice to know. I didn't want them all in this episode either, why couldn't we have had closure on some things seasons ago?!

It's not necessarily about just the people who died on the island, but more about this particular group of people. I think some people are excluded due to there sins (Not being ready as Hurley mentioned) - possibly the reason Michael is not there is because he killed one of his fellow group.

Also its very possible that Ben and Hurley went on to watch over the island for hundreds of years after Jack died, because after all the time-line has revolved around Jacks experiences.

Also, I feel that 'Ecko' wasn't there because he'd already found inner peace (not sure what to call it, but you know what I mean) before dying, therefore didn't have to hang about waiting for everyone else, maybe?

I like your thinking MonikieMan, good call about Eko. And I believe MIB has been helping/guiding/deceiving since the very beginning. Christian Sheppard showing Jack where to find water in season one being a prime example.

As for the time travel, and science angle, that is a bit a of a disappointment. I loved it when they used the ARG games to explain wormholes and exotic matter etc. I have a huge interest in these types of subjects so it was brilliant while it lasted, but it did fade out rather quickly after season 4 unfortunately. You may have already checked this stuff out, but there are shed loads of answers to thing in the Alternate reality games and websites and videos etc, like the meaning behind the numbers.

Yeah, MiB was definitely present all the way through, personally for me releasing this was a bigger twist than the real 'twist'. It even made me want to go back through the earlier seasons to see if I could find see him in places I'd forgotten about.

I've done a couple of the ARG games etc, and they do give some good insight into the show, however it would have been nice to have some good explanations in the show.

You seem to know your Lost, so do you have any ideas who the little boy was running through the woods? Was that supposed to be Jacob as a boy? I couldn't be bother to check, but I'm sure they looked different so I couldn't have been?

EDIT: Some of my friends think it was God, but I don't think they were hinting at that personally, seems too directly religious

Yes it was Jacob as a boy, and understandable that you may not have recognised him because each time he appeared he looked slightly different (darker hair and complexion)

I can live with that as an explanation, he was the main character I took issue with not being there.

Ah, that will be it then, I thought it must have been Jacob when he took the ashes from Hurley and said "they are mine" and then then Hurley finds Jacob whilst chasing him.

Just wasn't sure why he would show up as a boy if he could show up as a man? To add to the mystery I guess, and to freak out this brother :p

Eko wasn't there becuase he already passed through limbo as he fulfilled what he wanted to do before he died. I agree, so many people are saying it was rubbish because they have no idea what happened. I've seen like 6 people say they weren't impressed then when it had been explained they're like 'ohhhh what a great way to wrap it up'. Lost as always means you need to dig deep and not just take it as face value.

I think the ashes were required for him to return to his full form I guess. Not 100% on that though

Hmm, I don't think so because he'd appeared to Hurley a couple of times in full form, but I guess that can be explain by Hurley's ability to see dead people?

Okay, I've talked myself into accepting your explanation :)

Yea there's a four hundred page encyclopedia that was announced (i'll try and find a link) I wouldn't hold out hope for answers to everything though!

Edit:

Here it is, comes out August 16th: http://www.amazon.com/Lost-Encyclopedia-Tara-Bennett/dp/0756665949

And MonkieMan, yeah Hurley saw him first due to being able to see the dead, the second time he was actually there which is why everyone else could see him
