LOST..... How do you think it will end

Having never watched, are you guys saying that this show:

1: Started out as a group of dudes struggling to survive on a desert island.
2: The afformentioned dudes get off the desert island.
3: Is now some sort of apocalyptic, time travelly, Sci-Fi based show that is nothing to do with it original premise?

Lol? The writes knew exactly where they was going with the show from DAY 1 - and this will be proven in the final series. Kthx.

I think this is one of the best crafted stories ever and everything will fall in to place.
Every episode something falls into place that might have happened 50 episodes ago.

(And just for another person on this forum - yes it is an unbelievable and stupid story that needs a leap of faith just like walking man eating flowers).

I've only watched the first 5 minutes of the episode because we didn't finish season 5 until after midnight so don't know if there's any more detail about Desmond.
I think that if the island is under water then that happened in 1977 when Juliet detonated the nuke. If that is the case then Widmore may very well be dead and Penny might not exist (don't know how old she is supposed to be). If Widmore never left the island then there's no boat race for Desmond to go on and he would never have crashed. So Desmond could be anywhere since he can't be on the island.

I think the two realities are supposed to be connected and that people are going to start seeing flashes/memories of the last 5 seasons, probably starting with Jack. If Desmond didn't do the race he likely wouldn't have been training in LA so wouldn't have met Jack then, so I'm assuming Jack recognised him because it's the first sign he rememebers it all.

I said all of that last night, check post 92...

Btw the writers (or at least Matthew Fox) have said that about 2/3's in the story ends up revolving on one timeline.

Good, I've had enough of this alternate timeline stuff.. its like they couldn't think of a full story to take place on the island so it got bulked out with time travel and "what if" subplots.

Anyone else seen episode 3?

Episode 3 was good, more questions not enough answers!

its annoying that theres only 13 episodes left! I have no idea whats going to happen with these new Alt timeline they are going in.

Can't believe theres so much resentment for this show.

In my opinion it has got better every season. For those that said the show it going no where its been on a predetermined end since the first 7 episodes of season 3. Lots of answers have been given and still there is much more to come.

The problem with Lost is that from the pilot it could have gone in so many ways and so it got a large cross section of society as viewers. Eventually though it had to show its cards as a sci fi show and this is what put a lot of people off it. The hope of course is that it started off normal enough with the sci fi hooks introduced gradually so that viewers who wouldn't normally watch this type of show would stick with it.

I was never a fan of this mystery, fantasy, epic, god like way of explaining it, with jacob and the evil guy... it's all too mythical...

I wanted time travel and physics and daniel faraday to stick around

No they didn't. I remember an interview with them where they stated that they're writing it as they go along.

Indeed plus the fact she set off a nuclear device right next to her might have somthing to do with it.

Set it off by softly hitting it with a rock. Yes. :p

Agree. If they knew where they were going we wouldn't have had so many pointless episodes. IMO they had enough content for one series and they've just spread it out over six and created a whole lot of crap to fill the empty space.
