LOST..... How do you think it will end

No they didn't. I remember an interview with them where they stated that they're writing it as they go along.

They set out the concept and mythology for the whole show and what they wanted to do right from the very start, but of course they need to write the story as they go and build relationships with the characters to make it interesting.

That's not the same as making it up as they go along though.

Set it off by softly hitting it with a rock. Yes. :p

Agree. If they knew where they were going we wouldn't have had so many pointless episodes. IMO they had enough content for one series and they've just spread it out over six and created a whole lot of crap to fill the empty space.

Incorrect guys, What actually happened was.... Full story was written, y'know begging, middle, end. The writers (Cuse/Lindelof) wanted to have a definitive amount of time to write the show into, but ABC just saw a cash cow and decided to commission shed loads of episodes. So once season 2 got to the halfway point the current story arcs were revised and changed along the way to extend the airtime. Once ABC finally backed down after season 3 and told them they had 48 episodes left, they could continue onwards to complete the story and wrap it up into the ending that was planned all along.

That is completely different to "Making it up as they went along"

This. Its pretty obvious they've known the overall story arc all along (If you still watched it you would know this) but were pressured into stretching things out a bit inbetween. It was only really obvious and pants in the middle of Season 3 imo (writers strike season?). 4/5/6 have been ruddy brilliant.

Again the bomb had also fallen down a really long shaft which im assuming damaged the proximity fuse or something, or perhaps all of the electro magnetic energy building up disabled it somehow? Either way its probably a bit twitchy so whacking it with a rock would set it off lol.

Anyway i digress.

Looking forward to the rest of the season as long as they keep up a brisk pace and don't dawdle with pointless stuff. I really get annoyed when they go through an episode and doesn't answer/give any good information plotwise. The premirere was a great because.

SPOILERS

We leant that
- Locke/Jacobs nemesis is the smkoke monster
- He/It can't cross a line/circle of ash for some reason
- The temple has a spring in it with magical healing properties
- We found out that the Ankh in hurleys guitar case contained instructions from Jacob
- The Ajira Airways lot were affiliated with Jacob
- Richard knows of Jacobs nemesis
- Richard was apparently in chains sometime in the past
- Locke/Smokey wants to go to the temple and 'home'
- Somehow 815 landed safely and the island is underwater

Lots of information and while allot poses new questions its interesting and the premiere didn't really dawdle very much with the plot. If they carry on explaining things then ill be happy.

Looking at the episode that airs next week in the US 'The Substitute' i'm assuming it will deal with Jacobs Nemesis/Locke as Locke was referred to as a 'Substitute' for Christian Sheppards body by Ben. Heres hoping anyway :).

Does anyone really still watch this show? How can it still be entertaining? The story is just so contrived, it's all questions after disbelief after downright lunacy.

IMO.

Still the only series that makes me want to watch the next episode straight away but that's because I must be a bit thick obviously.

No it's just the sheer greatness and suspense! And although people always complain "Oh it's just question after Question..." - that's exactly what keeps us coming back!

I'm wondering if they are trying to merge Lost with Fringe (another JJ Abrams idea), seeing as both look like they are using the multiverse concept.

I am, but I'm expecting this season to slap me with answers every episode.

Ive got to say i have that level of expectation for the final season to, considering they have such little airtime left i want to be hit with answers/pieces of the puzzle every episode. They have 15 episodes left at 45 mins per episode (excluding any more time added to the finale which is likely).
I don't want to be dissapointed :).

I love the show but i have found myself thinking after ive watched each of the first three episodes 'right thats 45 mins of airtime gone, did we learn anything really important plotwise? Or were any important questions answered?'.

Agree. Usually the writers progress the story in the first and last few episodes of the series but we've not even had that so far. Been completely forgettable so far.
