LOST..... How do you think it will end

A few answers in episode 4, a lot of which lead to more questions! Good watch though.

I hope they start wrapping things up pretty soon. It'll be a shame if they try and cram all the answers in to the last few episodes.

Episode 4 - Substitute is frankly one of the best episode I've seen in the last few series. Not to create any hype, but it really pushes some of the theories floating around..... ;)

Agreed, great ep. Blonde kid, has to be Aarron! :p

Very good episode last night, the cave with sawyer and locke was very interesting (to not spoil it for anyone) :)

I don't think this has been posted, it's a kind of definitive statement as to why we have two timelines...

"Lindelof: "we [knew] the audience was going to come out of the “do-over moment” thinking we were either going start over or just say it didn’t work and continue on. [We thought] wouldn’t it be great if we did both? That was the origin of the story.
Cuse: "... Obviously, the big question of the season is going to be: How do these [two timelines] reconcile?"
Lindelof: " the survivors of Oceanic 815, ... thought the only effect [of detonating the bomb] was going to be that their plane never crashes. But they don’t stop to think, “If we do this in 1977, what else is going to affected by this?”"
Cuse: "... the right questions are: What are we to make of the fact that they’re showing us two different timelines? Are they going to resolve? Are they going to connect? Are they going to co-exist in parallel fashion? Are they going to cross? Do they intersect? Does one prove to be viable and the other one not? "

Doesn't solve any mysteries though ;)

I thought it was something to do with Jacob

Check out this page for some theories on who the kid is in the episode...

On a sidenote, lostpedia is without doubt the most in depth site revolving around lost. It has decent theories backed up by material within the show, gives you hell of a lot to think about. I literally spent about 5 hours on the site one day just reading through various character/island/episode theories.

I thought the episode was good but I can't help but wondering what the relevance of having an alternate world is. Hopefully it will connect with the main story line in some meaningful fashion because if it was simply to disappear it would add nothing to the over-all story which is a far cry from the flashback/flash-forwards of previous years.

I think the timeline with them off the island is now reality, as Juliet said to Sawyer that "it worked". I just think it didn't work in the way they expected it to and as a consequence, they are now in a different timeline.

The Island Losties could end up doing something that triggers the island to sink, kills them all on Island and stops flight 815 from ever crashing, therefore the alternate timeline is basically whats happening now that they did not crash. We see that all of the characters are linked and then I'm guessing that we will see the non-crash timeline end up with all of the characters being brought together or something happening to show that all of the Island stuff happened for a reason and we will either be left with a proper ending or some kind of cliffhanger ending.

Just had a thought, what if MIB/Lockes way of going home is to re-unite the various timelines? Jacob didn't want this to happen and now with him gone, the plan can proceed. Home may well be in another time, rather than just another place.

This of course assumes the whole timeline theory thing is true...

The general assumption (on Lost forums) is that MIB's 'home' could be in another time/timeline.

Sawyer is probably playing the long con with the MIB though, saying he wants to go with him, when he could just be trying to gain as much information as possible to help the other Losties. Think about it, how did Sawyer know instantly that Locke wasn't Locke, yet Richard and Ben had no idea until they saw Locke's dead body. Sawyer was a con man, so he probably knows that the MIB could be trying to con him.

Did no one realise that in the timeline where the plane didn't crash Hugo is still rich. If the Swan was never made, there were no numbers, hence Hugo wouldn't have won the lottery with them?

Remember what Hurley says in the first episode of this series...something along the lines of "i'm the luckiest guy in the world"...i'm guessing he just won the lottery without the numbers.
