LOTRO free to play going ahead.

Must admit, my first impressions of this game are very good, my only reservation about this F2P model is will it be over run by 10-17yr olds.

Tbh, I'm not sure that most teenagers would like LOTRO, its not a fast paced MMO and it takes longer to get rewards than many MMOs. Its just not quite so in your face and I'm not sure that will appeal to many teenage MMOers.

Points arrived this morning 1500, plus I bought some more :p.

I also bought some xp boost, did 4 Skirmishes and went up about 5 bars, as well as dinging. 1 away from 50:D

Will be interesting to see if I've got any additional points today, I ended yesterday with almost 5000 points, so if I get another couple of thousand I might have 7,500 points today. Though I'm not actually spending mine anyway (I've got a lifetime account so dont need a lot of the store stuff), will keep my points to use to get expansions for "free" when they come out :)

Pvmp (players versus monsters) comes at level 40 but requires a certain level of access - the store should sort it out if you have TP to spend. PvP is set in an area called The Ettenmoors and has 5 keeps situated around the map in which you can fight to take control of from the creeps (monster players), you get points also known as reknown from killin monster players and in Pvmp points go towards your rating and rank.

Thats a good point Gypo, it should be noted that free players cannot play as monsters in PvMP. Nor can they buy it with TPs, its exclusive to VIP players only.

if you log in to that link i gave you before, and look at the bottom where it says manage games. atleast thats where my games are but i do only have one, which was the first game released so maybe it doesnt show the expansions etc

Me too, I see the original but I did buy and play the mines of moria not long ago so I suspect I have expansions up until that time.

I think you might be right, or more to the point I *hope* you are.
Earlier I had the same thought too actually, while playing funnily enough.

This game is so polished thus far, if it continues to be as interesting as it is I will cancel my WoW cata order.

Anyone tried crafting? If so, is it good (better then WoW or even Everquest 2)?

Cheers

It is a pretty polished game, I've played it on and off for a few years - In that time I haven't encountered many instances of the usual teenagery annoyances, nothing like Barrens chat in WoW anyway :)

I like the crafting, its the standard collect resources, add ingredients and make type fair, but I find it not too simplistic and not too complex. Though to be fair I quite like crafting in MMOs anyway so I am maybe a touch biased on that.

Yeah I was thinking the same, when I get home later, I will see if the amount has increased or not?? The only thing I can see myself buying(have already) is the xp boosts, useful to say the least!

Or https://www.lotro-europe.com/Home/Index/en if you want the EU one ;)

(although looking at it, it seems the old lotro.com site actually does detect you're EU and forwards to the europe site now when you click create, ah wait..no I think it only does that if you click on the British flag)

The site isn't the best I must admit, but I'm playing on snowbourne(which I assume is a EU server) with the file I downloaded from lotr.com).

Anyways, it seems it works whichever way you do it.

Yep Snowbourn is an EU server, its good that they have got the sites sorted out (kind of anyway), in the past people would google lotro, go to lotro.com , set up an account and then wonder why they couldnt see their friends servers on the list. Good to see that it now forwards you to the EU accounting instead of setting you up with a US account.
