LOTRO free to play going ahead.

I think the pricing will drop and they'll have a fair number of specials, my main gripe with the store is there's bugger all for a VIP account holder to use their points on really, I just get a page in almost every section telling me there's nothing I can buy as I either already have it or it hasn't been put on the site yet.

For anyone interested in the OcUK kinship, I can say that it is still active and is currently recruiting. We are located on the Laurelin server, I am presently the leader of the kinship however I play a lot of different characters so it doesn't seem like I'm online much but I am usually around somewhere more often than not.

Here is the current officer list, of which you should contact for an invite :-

Chlothalion, Kaythalion, Robkay
Feliz
Amdeal
Telrian, Caldir, Grimbane
Toneh
Cyliscaen

Kinship Website = http://ocuk.mmoguildsites.com/

My goal is to provide help where I can in almost all elements of LOTRO to all members of the kinship, so don't hesitate to ask for help :)

One word... Tomes!

495 each x 5 stats x 5 ranks = 12,375 points

The impression given before release was that you'd be able to level through all the starter areas and into Breeland (where you're funnelled after the individual staring areas) before you'd have to start paying for quests. That would be about level 15-20.

You can still level by killing mobs, and travel to any area of the original game, but you have to shelve out for points to actually be able to take quests in the later areas.

Levelling is fast enough that you could do it maybe to 30, but god it would be dull :)

Quick question, is everyone playing this as free or are some people paying subscription? Is it even worth it to buy a subscription?

Once you hit about level 30 you have 3 choices: Pay a sub to get access to all the content, spend an absolute fortune in points in the store to buy all the content (really not worth it, much cheaper to get a sub), or grind like an absolute mad man as theres no quests, but this is not a game that was designed around grinding, and it'll take you bloody ages, you'll get bored and stop playing, trust me it simply isnt possible to grind to max level.

I started playing this and was quite enjoying it, I got to a quest though and i stated i had to pay a micro transaction for it.

Are these quests necessary to progress, or can you really play freely?

Not too sure, i'm a VIP player and i got a quest that was a tutorial of the store, it provided the points to do it.
