LOTRO free to play going ahead.

As said previously, subscribing for one month, creating a load of toons and also buying the Isengard pre-order is a fantastic way to get shed loads of content for very little cost.

I'd agree with this. And add that if you can find a boxed US copy of the Mines of Moria expansion anywhere (not the European Codemasters version) you get the two expansion classes (Warden and Runekeeper) plus the quest content for a very low cost.

I think it also includes VIP status for 30 days and then you revert to Premium.

Be very careful with buying the expansion. Remember any games sold by codemasters are no longer valid codes so you could waste £9 on it.

Make sure any codes you buy are from the USA.

Game stores still have some mines of moria expansions for £4.99 out back usually which is cheaper than the online store.

Also HMV have the 60 day gamecards in for £1, mine did recently. This will give you all the VIP benefits for a bargain price.

But this is the issue as mentioned above - these are European expansions and codes so I dont think they work anymore.

Any codes or expansions bought now need to be US codes.

I'm on Snowbourn, i know a few guys from here are setting up a Kinship on Eldar, not sure about the OcUK Kinship on Laurelin, i left because it wasn't entirely as active as i liked it to be and the roleplaying i encountered on Laurelin started to annoy me, so i jumped on Snowbourn because it's more competitive and zero roleplay.

Thanks for the reply - I'll keep Eldar in mind for future. Unfortunately I've pumped a lot of effort into getting a few toon's professions high level so would really prefer to find some people form OcUK in Laurelin if possible. My main is in a small kin, which has nice people , but at only level 43 he's the highest one there......

I play on Laurelin and I'm in a nice casual, mature kin. Normally at least a half dozen or so people on every night. Recruitment is always open.

the OcUK kin on Laurelin is not dead yet, but it's in poor health.

i was very lucky to catch amdeal online a few weeks ago and he kindly joined me up. for a couple of weeks i played an hour or two most nights and never noticed another kin member online.

about a week ago i logged in and got an offer to usurp the kin leader. i had to google what this all meant, but my understanding is that the leader hasn't been online for long enough that the kinship will soon be desolved unless an active member takes over.

therefore i did usurp and am now (for the time being) kin leader.

unfortunately it was bad timing as i've been away on holiday this last week, however now i'm back.

i have only one intention as leader, which is to try and get the kinship up and running again. if you want an invite, send an in game mail (or tell if i'm online) to my main character MORGADDIEL. i'll try to get online as often as i can, but i can't commit to long or regular sessions.

i have no plans to remain leader for the long term, so if we can get a good number of regular players lets see how it goes. i'm more planning to be a caretaker leader until such time as there's a good size active player base again.

alternatively if there's no interest over the next few weeks it might be better to disband the kin and allow the OcUK name to go to another group (perhaps on another server).

so if anyone would like to join, message (or tell) MORGADDIEL in game.
(i don't follow this thread too closely so i may well miss requests if posted here.

and if the previous leader wants his crown back, i'm happy to return it when he's ready to get back into the game. hope this is ok with everyone, i'm not meaning to tread on toes, but to prevent the kinship from collapse.

Thanks for all the replies, guys - its really ncie to have so many nice OcUKers about. I will definitely bear in mind Wes' advice, but inertia (and multiple toons) means that for now it is much cheaper to investigate the Laurelin options.

I think I will try to contact MORGADDIEL to join the OcUK kinship and see what I can do there to help. Also, could I have your character's name, sidethink, as the more people I know in Laurelin the better, really. Currently, I am playing DDO more than LOTR nowadays, but I do hope to eventually get my main in Laurelin to (the new) level cap.

Thanks all - I joined the OcUK kinship at Laurelin - thanks Morgaddiel for adding me.
Looking forward to running some quests/instances with everyone!
