LOWEST PRICING IN UK ON NVIDIA: 1060 £179.99, 1070 £349.99 & 1080 £449.99 !!

Yeah, was tempted myself but I'll just wait for Vega and see what happens to 1080 & 1080Ti prices.

Yep and if Vega has no effect on 1080/ti prices then I'm just going to hold out until Volta/Navi come along because I'm happy with 1080p gaming at the moment which my 390 does just fine so it just means my move up to 1440p or 4k will take a while longer

Only problem is 1060 doesn't give me anything over my 290. :( Never had so much trouble upgrading for a decent price. It's sad times when You have to shell out £350+ to get better performance than a 2013 card...

For 2560x1440 a 1070 isn't going to cut the mustard is it?

I run a Dell 144hz 27" 1440p G Sync monitor with a Zotac GeForce GTX 1070 AMP Extreme Spectra RGB and it sits most games at around 80-100 FPS, I play wow in 40 raids at around 60 FPS happy. In the greater world around 95 FPS, its fairly cranked on the options as well. Strangely WoW is a demanding game :D

Please can anyone give me some advice on the 1060 6GB models (Inno 3D, KTA2 and ZOTAC) between £229 and £259?

I'm itching to pull the trigger on one of these cards, but I'm not sure what the advantages/disadvantages of compact vs normal are and whether Inno 3D and KTA2 are reputable manufacturers. I have owned a Zotac before with no problems, so I'm confident in them and their 5yr warranty. My first thoughts are Inno 3D at £229. I have a huge, closed case, so the fact the Inno 3D looks a bit duff doesn't really matter. Also the 2 year warranty is not a terrible deal breaker as I game only occasionally, so won't flog it. Would the factory overclock on the Zotac a big improvement? I reckon I could reach that OC easily on a compact card...

I am upgrading from a HD 7970 Ghz edition on a 2500K at 4Ghz (8GB) and will probably go full system upgrade in 2-3yrs time, so the card will just be a stopgap. I am mainly playing BF games, GTAV, Witcher 3, Middle Earth SOM etc at 1680 x 1200 and the 7970 doesn't cut it anymore.

Postage to France is £21, so any savings are good. Basically, can someone please convince me that the cheapest one is OK!?

Cheers!

I can easily afford the £640 1080ti. BUT, I don't need such power. I'm a casual gamer. And benchmarks show that at 2560x1440 a 1080ti is overpowering for 9/10 games at this resolution.

A ~ £500 1080 is more my cup of tea.

I'm looking at the £488 MSI 1080 Gibbo has, a £500 1080G1 or a £521 1080 Aorus.

Stupid question. But if I asked you to guesstimate a 1080 should be more than sufficient for the next gen titles on the horizon (New Metro, Wolfenstein, New Assasin Creed and Far Cry 5) at 2560x1440?

---

Not ruling out Vega yet, but not spending over £550 on a GPU.

I'd spend £12 more and get this: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/evga...dr5x-pci-express-graphics-card-gx-30o-ea.html

Installing it slightly more complex (not much, just screwing a rad to the case) but it keeps the noise down.

Resale value may be helped on a card that still has warranty but whether that means you can make the extra £20-30 back in 2-3 years time is anyones guess. For your resolution it doesn't make much difference which one you choose as your framerate will be more reliant on your CPU.

I think I agree because we pretty much know the performance of Vega. I don't think there will be an across the board drop in prices but I do think there will be deals on some cards.

Yup, AMD aren't in any rush for a price-war that's for sure!

As long as mining goes on for the short term, prices will not come down. Demand / supply. If the mining is a long term thing, then eventually supply will increase, driving down prices. But thisis more 12 months, not any time this year. Really to drive down the craze bitcoin needs to stop appreciating.
