Linus' response was that they "already" agreed to compensate Billet for the prototype they auctioned off without permission. (In fact contrary to the request that LTT *return* it)

Billet says Linus didn't agree to compensate them until **after** GN's video went live.

This is terrible behavior from Linus / LTT.

I just really sat down and read through LTT forum on the issue and i gotta say people are really harsh and really stamping on them.

Linus's reply to the community and the issue hasn't really helped it tbh. I don't feel like he's actually sorry, just sorry they got caught and called out for it. The whole thing about miscommunication and auctioning off for charity seems like abit of an excuse to cover up what really happened. By all means at least they are covering the cost for the prototype and then some i hope for wasting Billet's time.

In future, if you want something tested properly, don't send it to LTT. Go for someone with a more reputable testing method with a stricter testing philosophy.

Didn't he get caught using benchmarks that favoured intel over amd before the 2000 series?

Also the whole issue with his mats that had incorrect pin outs that he refused to refund?

GN is litterally the same video over and over again, might as well go on a random hardware review and read to a camera for all the production values that go into it.

If you want to attract people to the hobby Linus is the go to, if you want someone to drone onto you reading from a auto prompter then it's GN

I doubt it'll effect lmg much but bring aminosity against Steve from others in the industry.

Hot pieces against others doesn't look great, both are going to suffer from this.

Steve seems genuinely angry on this. Almost like he's been waiting to unleash this for some time. He makes totally valid points and I totally respect him and his work. I completely agree with a lot of what he says.

I respect Linus as well though. Some of the comments are harsh. Linus is actually not the money grabbing person people make him out to be, despite the way LMG has gone and appears on the surface. He does have a heart and a family.

I am really surprised Steve called this out given what will inevitably follow, including potential legal action. I thought he had a sound relationship with Linus but he's thrown everything into this decision clearly. It's a big risk.
I'm completely on the fence currently but siding with Steve in that Linus has allowed things to become a bit too much of a conveyor belt of content. It needs sorting. He needed to properly address these issues and think out a proper response rather than playing the victim as Steve says.
To go to the lengths Steve did to create actual content (ok not sponsored) to present how bad a rival multi million dollar channel is, is huge.

I can agree with this, his $5000 upgrades for his staff sponsored by XYZ company is kinda nice. As an employee i would be pretty greatful though they do seem overworked at the same time, you can see that some look tired during those interviews where they mentioned what its like working at LTT.

I'm just loving all the people siding with Steve like he's a paragon of virtue.

Hes done plenty of sleazy **** in the past and if the rumours are to believed about his personality are less than disarable.

But it's turned into a tribal thing, half the people commenting on ltt forum are new accounts..
 
Like who really cares, its not end of the world stuff here, if employees are not happy, they leave anyway, the cycle continues in a business.
Just watching the GN latest response and he says that "they should know how the billet lab situation was resolved", now I am sorry but thats none of our bloody business.
Youtubers picking a fight with a bigger youtuber for views, old as youtube.
 
The update is even more devastating than the initial breaking story - if nothing else as a large media company LMG should invest some of the money they are scrimping on reviews into a PR agency.
 
LTT content has been going down hill for years and more toward entertainment than anything else. It feels like its trying to capture the short attention span crowd rather than staying true to its roots.

While he has goals with LTT labs which in theory is a great idea to hold companies accountable hes turned from a quality to a quantity youtube channel, churning out lazy or error riddled content to keep the revenue stream coming. I beleive this is because he has expanded too quickly and his overheads are huge so hes having to output a high volume of videos with relevant sponsors/farming ad revenue to pay for the overheads. This in turn has caused the shift to short attention span content, and the error riddled videos.

Linus' attitude stinks to be honest with his comments about holding companies and people accountable when hes one of the worst for doing that to himself let alone others. You can see the pain on Lukes face on WAN shows when Linus is sticking his foot in his own mouth over and over again

You've either not watched/listened to the videos or are not understanding. Or both.
