Madeleine McCann cops ask Home Office for more money to continue search for missing child

They will have some hard evidence of her still alive. Surely?

Look at Corrie missing case, police stop searching for him cos there is no evidence whatsoever

Why are UK police "investigating" this anyway? It's not within their jurisdiction, surely it should be the Portuguese police to decide if they want to spend time and money investigating it themselves.

Unless they can turn around and say look because of these investigations we have also stopped x y and z then whats the point?

Our council tax is going up and the police don't have the funds to police in this country so its just madness.

Disgusting.
Shocked that this is getting more funding. What doesn't the media control.

Feel for other families who don't have this funding pot. So unfair and unequal.

I wonder if the macans where a family from a council estate on minimum wage, would they have got similar funding? Or would they have had years of abuse thrown at them for leaving their kids unattended and drinking with friends?

I can't understand why the police haven't contacted all these conspiracy theorists yet, Apparently they know exactly what happened, and they have the evidence to prove it!

Shannon Matthews came from a council estate family which had lived off benefits for several generations. Police spent £2.3 million on a three week investigation (as opposed to £1 million per year on Madeline McCann). Public support overwhelmingly favoured the Matthews family, until it was discovered that the whole thing was a hoax.

So the police spent more than twice as much on Shannon Matthews' disappearance in 3 weeks than they did on Madeleine McCann's disappearance in 2 years. Perhaps the McCanns should complain that they're not getting equal treatment!

Why are they looking for a child when they know the parents did it...?

Because they don't know the parents did it. There's no evidence that the parents did it.

Now that's not entirely true isn't it?

Well yes, it is. If there was any evidence that the parents had done it, the police would be investigating them instead of (a) investigating other people (e.g. Euclides Monteiro, Urs Hans von Aesch, and a number of unnamed paedophiles) and (b) trying to find Madeleine.

Conspiracy theorists want me to believe that the McCanns have spent the last 11 years ensuring that the British police continue to investigate a crime they personally committed. That idea fails on logical grounds alone, even before we get to the question of evidence.

Considering how close David Cameron was to the case, in full view as well, it doesn't even need to be talked about.

Can you expand on your conspiracy theory with facts, please?
