Mafia 3

tempted to get this at cdkeys, usually if it comes out and reviews well the price will rocket up! but what if its poo!

I decided to buy direct from Steam so if it is really messed up I can get a direct refund, But I don't think that'll be the case, I'm sure it'll need patching but they'll get it in order in the end.

I don't mind paying 35 quid for a game, It's when they start getting close to 50 that I think it's OTT and go via key sites..

Yup if you "have" to pre-order then do it through steam as at least if the game is awful, you can get a full refund and best of all, the publisher/developers will actually lose money since valve/steam keep their cut for listing the game :D  :) Hence why WB removed batman arkham knight from steam :p

Tempted

Very tempted to get this, but will wait on reviews and watch some gameplay I think, loved the first 2, 2 was let down by the empty world outside of the main story so I hope that is fixed here, while mafia 1 is one of my favourite PC games ever, hope mafia 3 turns out good

A real man would buy it on steam regardless, if you like it, refund and buy again at cdkeys :D

Though i imagine if it reviews decently the price will rise right away

I bought it on uk.gamesplanet.com

Lowest price from authorized shop I found.

Hopefully the game is good, previews I read were positive, I like the time period.

lol, I hope the graphical glitches are sorted out before release though, water showing through bottom of boat

I saw a vid the other day, proper preview video. When je was driving around, the button prompt to get in the vehicle stayed attached to the side of the car as he was driving, was odd

Are there any logical, innocent reasons why a publisher would choose not to release review copies? I realise Doom didn't have any pre release reviews, but that seems to be one of the few exceptions. It just strikes me as an odd choice, especially given that it **looks** like a good game.

I've wondered that myself. A few people on reddit are saying they think it's because they don't want the story ruined. However, in my experience, game reviewers try very hard to avoid ruining the story. If they did, people would stop reading their reviews.

In reality, I think the publisher doesn't want to risk damaging pre-order sales, even if the developers are completely happy with the game and are confident it will be received well.

If the reviews came out prior to release and it was declared to be an amazing game that also runs well on the PC, I'd pre order. I can't help but think that withholding reviews until after release is somewhat of a double-edged sword. Sure, on one hand you might lose out on pre-orders if the review isn't favourable, but it if it is, you stand to benefit.

Preordered from Amazon as I'd got some vouchers so cost me £0.

Do Amazon only give the keys out on launch day?
