Mafia 3

It's really strange but when I saw this game announced I thought oh great, now GTA V is a couple of years old I guess the benchmark for a new Mafia game has been set. This could be really good,

Then as soon as I saw the gameplay footage I knew something was off. Even stuff like the fact Clay is always depicted in the same outfit started alarm bells for me. Once I saw the way the cars exploded I was out.

Will save my cash and wait for Dishonoured 2 me thinks.

Poor FPS

Hi Guys, seems like a load of people are having issues with the game. My biggest issue is the poor performance of the game. If I optimize with nvidia I get around 40 FPS with FPS set to unlimited.

I have 2x970's which ok are not bang up to date but are no slouch. I also have intel 4970 @4.6 16gb ram.

I dont think this game looks any better than gta v which my pc pulls over 120 fps.

Any tips for better performance on this title?

I came in the thread to see how everyone was getting on with it and I've got to say I'm bitterly disappointed.

Forget FPS for a second. It looks alright at best. Even worse is just how dark or blowout it appears to be. It makes playing it headache inducing for me!

It's crashed to the desktop - most noticeably after playing a cutscene MOVIE (irritating when it's in the same environment you are playing in).

Without the performance issues, I think it's a very uninspiring game that should have had a lot more going for it than it having a gritty representation of 60s America.

Indeed. Even if you forget the graphics and performance issues, the actual core gameplay is extremely repetitive and dull. The only good thing about it is the story, but it's a game not a movie! I would prefer something more linear like Max Payne 3 with a good story than an open world with weak content

Having a quick look on here and on metacritic, not great, people seem to be encountering similar bugs and a few reports on crashes, taken from the mafia 3 console thread:

At least WB/Rocksteady got arkham knight to more or less run flawlessly on the consoles :D

2k really went full retard on this one :o :(

Brilliant...

Is this the general view here? I've been holding out for some trusted views on YT etc.

I was watching dansgaming on Twitch playing this and he had this kind of thing happen a lot. One time he walked into a garage, there was a lot of floating spanners and tools, he walked through them all sendign them flying, and then 30 secs later the workbench finally appeared.

Really odd issue.

Haven't had many bugs so far, I had the one with feet clipping the roof of a car, also had one random soft lock after taking down a racket but that's about it in the 10 or so hours I've racked up so far.

Oh and naturally the completely stupid ai :D

Had potential for so much more, though for £25, I'm enjoying it and will see it through to the end just for the story.

Was nice to see Vito from M2 involved in the story of this too.

2 hours is pretty sucky though. You're barely out of the tutorial in 2 hours in a lot of games, so you don't get real gameplay.

Are they planning on releasing an FPS fix for this game? it sucks playing at 30fps feels you playing with a voodoo 2 gfx :( (maybe not quite but you get my point!)

Think I'll be buying on Steam for everything from now on and doing the refund-simulator.

If it's good, refund and buy a cd-key cheaper if it's drastically lower than the steam store price.
