Mafia 3

Any time I see screenshots and videos of this game, this is my reaction:

Can't get over just how awful looking this game is. It's like they spent their entire time solely on the cut scenes and forgot about the actual game play...

Think I'll be buying on Steam for everything from now on and doing the refund-simulator.

If it's good, refund and buy a cd-key cheaper if it's drastically lower than the steam store price.

It's a pretty good way of doing things to be fair... I generally only buy direct from steam during the sales.

Aye, I've been watching a few graphics comparisons...you know it's bad when the PS4 edition looks close to the PC edition... Not sure what XB1 is up to mind!

Hows the gameplay? no good?

Right my view after 9 hours:

Pros:
Great cutscenes and voice acting
Solid Story & presentation of the story (flashback retelling etc)
Lieutenant missions are good (Fairground?! That was great)
Great soundtrack and general atmosphere
Gunplay has weight (do like the shotguns)

Cons:
- Average graphics (a step up from Mafia 2 but not nearly good enough considering GTA V) especially when factoring in performance.
- Outside of the story missions the game is fairly repetitive (I'm probably not the best person for this as I always get a tad bored with gameplay in open world games which aren't quest driven like Skyrim, I got bored in GTA V...maybe it's the lack of character progression). I see what they tried with the district/racket mechanics. It's a solid base but needs more variety. The lieutenant missions as mentioned above were definitely better! It was mentioned on reddit but the Shadow of Mordor Nemesis system might have worked quite well here.
- Melee fighting is rubbish, takedowns get old fast.
- The world much like Mafia 2 still feels fairly empty in terms of general things to do. In addition as outlined in a video above, some of the things that Mafia 2 did ok on were inexplicably removed.

I'll reserve full judgement until I've completed it. Is it true there are multiple endings based on your choices throughout the game?

I don't think Mafia 2 was as good as some are making out here, I thought its story and missions were a step down from Mafia 1 which was a masterpiece.
