Mafia 3

I thought the gameplay looked pretty much the same as M2 except maybe the exploding cars (which I'm sure will be tweaked before release) M2 was heavily reliant on cover shooting as well, besides the pull of the Mafia games has always been the story for me, both previous games had solid mechanics but neither one was exceptional in that regard.

You guys are terrible.!!!
You moan when theirs no demos
You moan when theirs no gameplay reveals
You moan about dlc on day one
Now you call it a flop on the first ever EXCLUSIVE first ever EARLY gameplay showing which is not even a gameplay trailer....

No wonder developers rarely give you demos and gameplay reveals. Dammed if they do dammed if they don't.

Give them a chance to release a real gameplay trailer further down the line that's has some polish

Its just a sandbox ATM geez.

Or better yet try out the DEMO before you buy.. Imagine that a demo now days?

Give them a chance....

I some some of you just think games appear from no where and just work.
Creating a game takes THOUSANDS of man hours..

Well said that man!

I think we're free to make any sort of judgement we want, as long as we don't explicitly insult anyone. It's called "expressing an opinion". If I don't like the general feel and look of the game, then why should I be denied the right to express it? Because the devs will feel bad?:p They won't even read this;p

The way I see it, Hangar 13 decided to make a game and show it to the public at an early stage. If they feel confident enough about what they've done up to this point to present it to anyone, then they should feel confident enough to face criticism. It's only natural that not everyone will like it.

Besides, have we seen many games that looked meh at an early stage and suddenly turned into masterpieces at the end of the developing cycle? I sure as hell think it's usually the other way round and games end up looking/playing worse than what was expected (off the top of my head: Arkham Knight, Unity, Witcher 3 and <ta-da!> Mafia 2)

I respect Hangar 13's work and I think the final product might be a good game. At the same time. I'm pretty sure it won't be a good Mafia game.

I have one thing to say about this, and it's something that I love, even at this very early stage of the game.

Hangar 13's logo :D

You are free to make your opinion, but the people Just spouting From a 1 minute trailer its a FLOP are totally unfounded & can not really be used as opinion. its like having a opinion on bacon taste without trying bacon.

yeh criticism like i think you should reduce the chance of car explosions. not "your game is terrible" but ive not played it"

it was not aimed at you. it was aimed at people saying its DOOMED from a 60 second quick look from a third person party.. all acting like bunch of spoilt kids.

It's a series that thoroughly deserves a sequel.

Even if it does end up sucking, I'm glad that they're giving it a go. That's got to be better than giving it up.

Didn't take it personally mate, no worries. I just don't think that all the guys here necessarily mean that the end result will suck. They're probably just shocked because they were expecting something completely different (same as me, won't lie):p

I kind of understand why some people feel rather disappointed but I agree that condemning the game at this point seems pretty unfounded. Worst case scenario, we'll get a (probably) slightly clunkier alternative to GTA set in 1968 New Orleans, which might be pretty good.

However, I still have some reservations regarding the setting and over-the-top gameplay. Those bloody car explosions need to be toned down, seriously;p And I sure as hell hope there won't be many missions involving wreaking havoc with a grenade launcher;p

With so many comments about it I'm sure many of the things will be changed, that's whole point of revealing some footage as well ;) Plus we know it's early days so I'm staying positive :)

Never played a Mafia game before but quite looking forward to this now!

Shame some idiots in the YT comments section have to ruin everything, complaining at the colour of the main characters skin... apparently the game will be a flop because of it.

What even is this world coming to!?

scarface was crap too :(

oh i never played that.

Mafia 2 just felt soulless, the devs stripped so much away i thought, will give it another go i guess with the third one.
The first Godfather game was was ok i guess but the second i threw it in the bin, never played such a clunky game in my life, such a shame really.

I really hope they actually fill the open world with stuff to do this time! i was sad at the end of my Mafia 2 playthrough to discover theres literally nothing to do!

As with how difficult it was to break out of the main story arc and just explore, etc. there was a certain amount of attitude at 2K that you should pay for every second of enjoyment you got out of the game directly - they didn't want anyone doing anything outside of the main story arc unless it was paid for via DLC - if anyone remembers from the 2K forums at the time there was a lot of negativity from several devs towards anyone talking about doing anything that wasn't an intended part of the main game arc - even saying people should only play through the demo once and calling people who had worked around the time limit or escaped map bounds thieves even though there was limited content outside of the demo map area.

Left quite a bad taste in my mouth at the time - if I'd released a game or demo I'd want my customers to get all the fun out of it they could intended or otherwise. IMO a time limited demo rather than feature limited is especially contemptuous of your (would be) customers.

I'm not racist but playing as a black character in New Orleans is not something I think of when I think of a Mafia game. I think the complaints are justified, but maybe some are going too far.
