Malaysian GP 2009 - Race 2/17

he asked about people with 30 laps of fuel 1 stopping, i replied that the softs barely last 5 laps so to 1 stop with softs the race would have to be 35-40 laps long.

I edited.
5 laps for super soft, they are not running super soft compound. We don't know how these handle. I expect heavy runners will start on soft compund and try and do 1 stop if they last.

It was said in either the practice or qually commentary on R5L that the softs give about 4-5 useful laps in Malaysia, after that they drop away fast.

That was referring to what happened to the tyres back in Melbourne. This compound hasn't been used before so we don't know. The teams probably do from testing over the winter.

whats the chance of rain? one stop fuel load will be destroyed if it rains while the people with lower fuel loads will benefit massively

encase people haven't seen it

How about just 'cos wet races are always dramatic and changeable and nearly always throw up surprises? I'm confused by the assumption of fanboyism in these threads. Hamilton and Kubica are probably my favourites out of the current crop of drivers but I'd much rather watch a good race in which they do badly than a dull race in which they do well.

I'm with you on this, a good wet race beats most others regardless of who we may be baised towards/against, so long as no one gets hurt or stoopid - no names, you know who you are.

Nice one Acid.

So the Brawn's are the heaviest fuelled in the top 8, Alonso could be a bit handy with all that extra if his ears don't put paid to a good outing.

WTF is Vettel upto with so little fuel - I know he's back 10 places from Quali but he's going try to come off the line like a News of the world reporter in front of a whip weilding Max!

Button's really starting to show he's no journeyman. :)

He never was, unless you happen to subscribe to sunama's view. His talent has been masked by a few truly atrocious cars. Now he has a good 'un, he's showing his true colours. Long may it continue, as far as I'm concerned. Just as long as Ferrari get it together enough to mount a challenge for the titles....

As for Hamilton - as I've said before, he should leave McLaren. Even if it means moving to a lesser team, at least he can race without orders that compromise his integrity. If Hamilton honestly had a say in what happened RE: Australia, and decided that he agreed with the McLaren team position that he should not tell the truth, then I think that my "hatred" of him (as it was described by several of you complete and utter ****) has some justification.

For the record - I didn't "hate" Hamilton before, and I don't now. I'm disappointed, certainly. And I want to see him make a good fist of retaining his title. The way McLaren are right now, that might not be on the cards. Which is a real shame.

Even for a Ferrari fan.

PS. I know this might be taken as yet more BrawnGP glory-hunting, but **** it - GO BUTTON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(huh, finally fell foul of the word filter)

well, just got back in from work so going to catch up on all the action on iplayer.

Glad Button has added another pole to his tally. Would love to see 2 wins on the bounce too, but those 2 Toyota's do have me a little worried (getting horrible flashbacks to monaco 04 and Jenson being stuck behind Trulli).

Hoping for a wet track, Buttons better feel for the car in the wet should pull him away from the chasing pack before the rest of the wet weather drivers get close enough.
