Malaysian Grand Prix 2013, Kuala Lumpur - Race 2/19

On the topic of universally popular multiple champions.

I don't think anyone has a bad word to say about Fangio - a gentleman in every sense of the word. Stirling Moss is held in the same esteem (regardless of championships). Jim Clark is, as far as I can tell, pretty much universally admired too. Jack Brabham, Jackie Stewart, Graham Hill - multiple champions AND proper sportsmen.

There's something I and, I think a lot of other folk don't like about the hyper-ego, win at all costs, play dirty if necessary type that Schumacher and now, Vettel have shown themselves to be.

I am not a fan of it, but at least schumi had the balls to stick with his decision. Not to grovel after it.

What about the Rubens top-step podium fiasco. Did he apologise after the team orders?

I think Alonso is ok recently, but still remember how he was in 2007 with Hamilton...

At which time he'd beaten a Schumacher in his prime two years running, and his teammate was a rookie. Alonso had a right to arrogance and it's understandable that he expected to be first driver because nobody could have predicted Hamilton to challenge for the title in his rookie year. I disliked Alonso in 2007 for not being able to accept what was, but a couple of lean years at Ferrari while Hamilton won the title knocked the wind out of him. Since then he's got over himself.

Vettel, on the other hand, has done nothing to justify his arrogance or his ridiculous sense of entitlement. As a long time Minardi fan I was pleased when he won in the Toro Rosso, but since he went to Red Bull he's been insufferable. Two of his WDCs only happened because Toro Rossos wouldn't race him, and the third was in a car so dominant that anyone who could drive it in a straight line could have won with it. Maybe if he loses for a few years he'll improve like Alonso did, but until then all the hate he gets will be well earned.

Lol.

So why didn't Webber win in 2011 then, if it was that easy?

I think 3 straight titles is plenty to entitle someone to think they are number 1 in a team. Quite how you come to the conclusion that 2 titles allows Alonso to be arrogant but 3 titles doesn't mean Vettel can be bemuses me. In both 2010 and 2012 it was a fight to the last race against Alonso too.

apologise for what? it was the teams decision.
he clearly didn't feel comfortable with it but why would he need to apologise?
Anyone who went to Ferrari knew they were #2 and not supposed to win as well so why would schumacher feel like he has to apologise when the team tells them they have to move over or whatever.

do you think alonso apologises to massa every race?

Do you think hill apologised to ralf at spa? or to the fans after he was on the radio saying " listen here eddie if we two race there's going to be a crash"
