Massa not having a good day. Now got a puncture.

Starting from the pitlane after car won't go anywhere on the parade lap. Pitting end of lap 1 for hard tyres...

Pitting end of lap 1 was tactical and should have worked for him, he was saving time on the pit stop under VSC, but the puncture ruined his chance to do a potential two stop with two very long stints on hards. He also likely won't have any more hards so now has a very tricky race if so. Because he'll have to do this stint long, then maybe two more stops because he won't have tires to go long enough on the next stint.

F1 guys saying more replays, no contact with Verstappen on Vettel, it was Verstappen avoiding Vettel bombing up the inside. So Vettel almost hit Verstappen but then hit Rosberg, way way too fast up the inside, could have taken two cars out but Verstappen saw it coming and just avoided him though it's hurt his race.

EDIT:_ surprised other drivers didn't pit, look how far back Verstappen is with a pitstop, pitting under VSC is going to gain you 5-10 seconds compared to under normal conditions. Think Verstappen will have RIcciardo easily, could be close to Hamilton now.

Yep heard that in which case poor from Vettel! He's hurt his own race and others as well.

Agreed no idea why the top 3 didn't pit as well.

Yup, Nico went onto hards under VSC.

Thing is, Verstappen IF he's easily going to be ahead of Hamilton right now if Ham pits, there is no reason to push the tires and wear them out. He needs to protect them to get a better stint length so he shouldn't be pushing he should just be staying fast enough to make sure Ham and Ric come out behind him.

Well, third place did ;)

Brundle mentions longer stint length and the need to protect tires, he mentions you take about 24 seconds for a stop but can't understand why Verstappen, well within 24 seconds, is protecting his tires rather than burning them up.:rolleyes:

Verstappen doing a Hamilton as well which so many drivers don't do. bring car out, don't push tires too hard for 3-4 laps before bringing the pace up. Rosberg comes out and does a fastest lap of the race over and over, Ham always comes out and does several decent pace but not massive pace laps before bringing his pace up. Hamilton always is faster over the full stint and has way better pace than Rosberg for 3/4 of every stint. That is how to protect the tires and Verstappen doing the same.

Unless Verstappen struggles at the end of a stint due to pitting early he's in a crazy strong position in this race. He qualified great, got screwed by Vettel and put behind Kimi. Huge move on Kimi the very second the VSC stopped, jumping a slightly asleep Kimi and his pace to catch up to Ricciardo and sense to pit early... he's having a brilliant race. even seeing Vettel coming and managing to avoid the initial impact AND avoid Vettel after he shot across the track.
