Mantle Feedback/Bugs

Perhaps but you're going from very low to extremely low. I don't think that is the reason it is being perceived as being smoother.

I can't explain why it does but everything from a tank driving past to a chopper flying in the sky just looks better?

Its like DirectX is 60fps and Mantle is 120fps is how I would explain it?

I think AMD are just covering themselves until its officially optimized because im seeing reports of 7xxx users around the web seeing gains.

I am just speculating but with those on lower-spec rigs (especially ones with AMD CPU's) and/or running Windows 7, there will be gains to be had, some of them big.

If anyone posts a bench up, I think the version of the OS needs to be called out as we know that BF4 runs much better on Windows 8.1 than on 7.

For a closed source solution, a 5% gain is not worth the development time and fracturing of the API's imo.

Didn't you say you went from 70 to 120 FPS? That might be why :p.

It's probably just literally more consistent and higher frame rates.

That's on Ultra 85 in one spot on DirectX

But with my settings on DirectX I change Post processing down and AO off to get 120fps solid still dont feel the same.

With Mantle I dont need to switch them off to keep 120fps.

edit
This with MSAA both off also.

You have to remember that you are probably used to stutter shanks and with the frame pacing fixing that, it now plays much smoother.

I'm confused. I'm not debating that you're getting increased FPS and can use higher settings with Mantle to achieve the same frame rate :p.

Enhanced AMD CrossFire frame pacing – Support for 4K panel and Eyefinity non-XDMA CrossFire solutions (including the AMD Radeon R9 280, 270 Series, 7900 Series, 7800 Series) and Dual Graphics configurations
Frame pacing ensures that frames rendered across multiple GPUs in an AMD CrossFire configuration will be displayed at an even and regular pace

Maybe I have misread the 14.1 fixes?

TBH from what i see/think
Most problems come from idiots that did not use DDU before installing Mantle drivers.

How many YEARs does one need to have AMD gpu to learn that you NEED to do DDU if you dont want to have drivers problems ??

Other people complaining are ones with 7950/7970/270x/280x not like amd said its not finished and those cards can/have problems with mantle.

But most/all people using 290/290x got gains and same problems as DX11 BF4 cause game is just ****ed each time they patch it :/

What is DDU? never heard of it and never had a problem with the drivers so far.

Yeah just saying its added support for Eyefinity and 4k now

13.11
Frame pacing support for multi-GPU configs. Note that the frame pacing implementation in this driver still doesn't work with resolutions above 2560x1600 unless you're running a Radeon R7 260X, R9 290, or R9 290X. Broader frame pacing support will arrive next month in a beta driver.

But it does work on Res below that.

Ahhh ok, was just a possible reason for it feeling smoother but if it was already fixed, that wouldn't be why :)

Im going to try this driver..But getting to safe mode in Win8 is a royal pain. Can I not just DDU in normal mode then reboot?

type msconfig in the search bar. In Msconfig go to BOOT and select minimal in the boot list. Done.

I see ATIMAN uninstaller has a W8 compatible uninstaller now. W7 one was very thorough and took a while. I haven't tried this one yet though. It was on GURU 3d.

I used DDU in safe mode, turned off HD3000 CPU graphics. Turned off Afterburner and anything else I didnt need. Have 7990 and played 20 mins until it crashed. No stutter or drops. min - avearge went from D3D 50-70 to mantle 70-95. Game crahsed with BF4 has stopped working message. I was impressed for the beta.

No need latest DDU now ask you to boot into safe mode :D

AMD isn't done with Mantle, this is just a first taste of it.

In case you missed it...
