*** Mass Effect 3 ***

I'm PianoBasher on Origin. :)

BTW the one thing that's really annoying me at the moment is getting out of cover and legging it. I've ended up dying several times trying to escape and ending up with it just dumping me in cover again while trying to run away.

Maybe I just don't have the hang of it yet but there must be a reliable way of me not screwing it up. Maybe I'm just panicking and doing it wrong, but sometimes I feel like I'm getting "stuck" in cover, although normally just pressing back will pull me out of it.

The worst one is trying to sprint away out of cover from a doorway, most of the time I end up rolling into cover to the left or right when that wasn't the intention at all.

Suppose I should read the instruction manual.

You will naturally go into cover if you go too near a wall by sprinting, there is not really a way around this. You will eventually get more used to what the ranges when you get into cover are, but sometimes to avoid getting into cover you will have to stop sprinting for a second, turn/roll, then sprint again. This is part of the problem with this 'unified button' bs that bioware introduced, binding 1 key to so many functions was never going to end well.

I don't know what you mean about getting stuck in cover, back should always take you out of it. I can't recall a situation where back hasnt taken me out of cover but I could be wrong.

It's probably just the button mashing going on that stops it from working. It's me, not the game, but yes, a separate cover button would have been so much better. :)

I'm enjoying not being bottom scorer all the time since I started using upgrades/ammo powers etc. I was wondering how the hell people were getting so many kills until I used some of the 1 mission upgrades. :D I've unlocked some Quarian, Krogan and Turian classes as well but I don't know enough to try them out really.

So after a couple of days, I can honestly say that ME3 multiplayer has me hooked. :D Shame you can't do a L4D style 10v10 or something though. I suppose PVP would be rather difficult to balance.

PvP would be impossible to balance with powers like stasis and grenade spam. It would be nice if they added a survival mode of sorts, where the game only ends if you die or more players on bigger maps. I expect they will flesh the MP component of the game out more when ME4 is released.

I can look at your manifest.... the problem with the vanilla turians and all krogans is they cant dodge, this is a massive disadvantage. Its not so bad on the krogans as they have a ton of health and shields and damage resistance abilties. The turian soldier is an excellent class if he's got a decent weapon in his hands, proximity mine which he has access to is also one of the best powers in the game. I don't really rate the quarian engineer, shes one of the weaker classes in my opinion mainly because she cant combo without relying on her turret or ammo powers. The human starter classes are all very good, so its not a bad thing to stick with them.

Equipment, especially consumable equipment makes a big difference. Its generally considered good manners to equip lv3 ammo/armor consumables when playing gold or higher as it makes the game easier and it shows you want to contribute. You will get to a point where you will be able to top the boards on silver games without equipment. Its generally not hard, you just have to prioritise weaker enemies(in most situations) and know where the spawn points are. Its generally a good idea to prioritise weaker enemies as it drives the enemy 'budget' for the wave down quicker as weaker enemies die a lot faster even if they're not worth as much points.

Playing through them all for the second time atm. Up to the point in second where you have to search the supposedly derelict Collector vessel. Still my favourite one out of the three!

Damn near a perfect trilogy in my opinion. I mean yeah the endings a little terrible but I think anyhting they could have produced would have been scutinized to death because there was so much speculation and they wanted to come up with something seemingly original. We saw the same thing happen to 'Lost'...
Still, my biggest gripe with third is that the music statoin in the captain's cabin didn't play the music from the first game like it did with the second... unforgiveable...

<snip>.

I wondered what you were on about with the manifest thing but I just found it, that's pretty cool. :) Interesting to look at other people's builds, I'll have a nose around later!

I thought the Quarian engineer was quite good fun actually, the Freeze Combo thing seems to work quite well. I made a few other builds but haven't played with them yet.

Oh, I got a respec in a pack I bought for 90K credits which is handy! :)

Any other guides online? It'd be nice if you could change FOV but I doubt that's possible. Hopefully a few more days and I'll start being a bit more useful, although I'm getting the hang of using rockets in the latter waves to take down multiple heavies, and using AoE powers in choke points to catch more enemies.

The freeze combo is good but it only works on lesser enemies without shields and armor(?) so its situational.

You can change FOV, I havent bothered myself as i've just gotten used to it now.

List of combos
Damage modifiers for powers and certain weapons
A very detailed class builder
Enemy HP spreadsheet
Weapon spreadsheet
Guide to changing the FOV

It is basically survive 11 (with two objectives per a match (collect an item, escort a robot, etc)) waves on a variety of different levels but then some levels have modifiers to make them harder like a sandstorm, then there are 4 types of enemies with 3-4 different types making for some nice variety.

On top of that there is a form of loot system in which you can buy reward chests with in-game currency to unlock new guns, attachments and characters. You also have a rather large amount of characters to choose from who in turn have different abilities and can play a different role in game.

Then on top of that you have the typical get 100 head shot rewards per a gone and such which unlock new banners to display with your character. Oh and characters level up to increase their abilities (this doesn't take long) as well as being able to unlock extra features per a character such as extra customisable features.

Ok, fair enough! already installed it and will give it a blast: somebody wanna play? Give me Origin ID :p

I'll be playing some multiplayer tonight I think about 5pm.

I ended up playing SP last night for a while. All I can say so far is EPIC! However, some of the textures on clothing look like they are out of a PS1 game, what the hell!?

I'm up for some games (I haven't played in a rather long time) and I might be able to coax some other peeps to play too if we are low on numbers.

I think my Origin ID is: MaxiLive

I should be about this evening for a few games :D

It is, I know this because I added you near release to play ME3MP but we never got around to playing a game together.
I'm available at 5pm tonight, Origin ID is handheld_biscuit. Most of my classes have just been promoted so I dont really mind what difficulty I play.

Cool, I'll open origin tonight so I don't forget. I'm Planehazza in origin, no idea what my ME character is. I'll likely start from scratch.

One word: TexMod :D

I've tried to add everybody now but I'm not sure if it has worked as my Origin is a bit dodgy at work, if not I'll resend the invited tonight when I get home :)

That was good fun last night but I was a bit pants.... I seem to do decent damage as an engineer but rarely get the kills. :) Also, people always seem to know where the spawns are, and being squidgy, I tend to be at the back and by the time I get to the action, half the mobs are dead!

Need more practice I think!

On another note, having E as "Use" is much better!

To be fair, it probably didn't help I was using the claymore, that thing lays waste to everything! I always feel like such a badass using it :p. Salarian infiltrator is one of my favourite classes, hes got excellent survivability for an infiltrator due to energy drain and hes got proxy mines for the damage buff, its good for people like me as I play recklessly, especially on lower difficulties. I will run a human engineer with a predator next time.

If you want to be the first to get the kills you have to do a lot of running from a to b, having low shields isn't such a big deal as there's always cover close by, I still run around like a maniac when I use a human engineer. Burst fire weapons like the claymore/saber/paladin/sniper rifles have a bit of an advantage as you can get a kill before the other person has even started firing. A good sniper infiltrator would have beaten me on the scoreboard as I still need to get reasonably close to get kills with a claymore.

I wouldn't worry too much about the score, staying alive and helping with objectives is really all thats needed to succeed, you didn't die any more that me from what I noticed.

Added you and some other guys here from OCUK, actually it is fun, already got my character on 20lvl and few upgrades. Switched last night to GOLD challenge to earn more XP and money. My Origin will be switched on so if on evening you guys are there we can have copuple games )))

I'll be up for a few games this evening again :D

I'm rather good at dying! I always have been so I can't use the "I'm rusty" excuse. Thanks for some of the tips last night Reeve I managed to get my mouse sorted and it makes using a sniper so much more enjoyable!

I've not played with many other weapon types really as I always found the assault rifles so weak but I think I only have level 1/2 versions of some of them.

Do guys hop on mumble or just continue to use in-game chat?
