Mass Effect: Andromeda Thread

Is it my imagination or does the multiplayer not have a single piece of background music? I did have my volume pretty low as I was listening to the Westminster stuff on the radio but it felt soulless, especially during extraction.

Had a couple of goes on multiplayer. Will take some getting used to even though much of it's the same as before. The enemies seem tougher though. I guess that's why they've reduced it from 11 waves to 7. Throw you in at the deep end. :D

The only troublesome thing was the amount of people coming and going though. The lobby filled up, then emptied, then filled up. Game started. Two people never arrived. Two more appeared to arrive mid-game but left straightaway. Bronze is really hard with just two beginners.

I've not had much issue with people leaving in the lobby/during a match but I have to agree the games are a lot harder. I guess it doesn't help that in ME3MP i had version X of most weapons complete with maxxed weapon mods and i've been reduced to using rank I common weapons without even a barrel mod to equip. The levelling also seems much slower although they state they have gotten rid of the original approach of endlessly promoting characters to bump your N7 rank, so that might be part of the reason why it has changed. The credit rewards also seem lower, the game length hasn't changed much yet a full extraction on Bronze (which i've only managed to get once in ~10 games) only netted me 10k.

I really don't remember needing to empty an entire Avenger clip in the face to kill a single mook on Bronze. Its also a bit disheartening when you biotic combo the weakest enemy available in the game and you only take off 75% of their health, im hoping the damage scales up when you get higher ranked abilities so that this is at least a possibility. That being said i started enjoying MP a lot more when i got hold of an Asari Adept whos abilities are much like the N7 Fury(arguably the strongest class in ME3) so at least i'm able to pull of a biotic combo every few seconds even if i can't one shot enemies. The Krogan Engineer looks like it might be good when i get his abilities so he has access to the flame turret but i switched to the Asari as soon as i unlocked her.

Some things haven't changed though, i've been caught out more than a few times by this unified button carp where i've gone to res someone and instead tried to smack a wall :p

For anyone starting out in MP and wanted to go for an Infiltrator, i would suggest going duration on cloak for the utility, don't bother going for the damage build like i did as some of the objective waves really can be perilous without some coordination and a steady supply of rockets which nobody seems to have at the moment.

Do I need to have played the previous ME games in order to 'get' this?

I'm ashamed to say I've never played them at all! :(

My copy arrived yesterday on PS4 and I only managed to spend a couple of hours with it but it's not as bad as I was expecting based on the comments I've read on the internet. My only issue is that Sara seems to have a bit of a crossed eye occasionally, don't know if this is a glitch or an intentional character design.

Enjoying it though, haven't played any multiplayer but I'll give that a go when I've completed the story. The Apex app is quite good though, being able to send people on missions to unlock content in the single player is a neat idea.

Is anyone up for some MP games later? I've still got rubbish weapons but my character is overlevelled so Bronze isn't much of an issue now. Could try a few Silver games but the advisory Lv10+ is spot unless you're running around with decent golds/ultra rares

I've not touched the multiplayer (barring completing the tutorial) but if you're fancying some games with non-random players then feel free to add me. Not sure what time I'll be on tonight but my PSN ID is K1YLF

Good to hear. Sounds like everyone just jumped on the band wagon as usual with the internet.

There are some plain to see issues but it won't spoil my fun with the game, it only gets better as well apparently.

There are some very annoying game breaking bugs annoyingly. I have been doing a scan mission but for some reason the game has not registered the scan. It still shows as an objective but will not re-scan the item...... I cannot progress without doing this bit too..... Arghhhhhhh....

-Fixed by quitting and re-loading. Went back a little but not too bad...

Loving it so far on the first planet but what the heck is going on with the screen sway? It's making me feel right sick.

EDIT: The sway is a bug. Restarting the game fixed it.

Sat down to play some on my new TV set up... I got to the rover, the rover Glitched into the sea (I can't get into it) and I'm now stuck in a hazardous wasteland. Am I now stuck reliving the Martian movie? (it autosaved after losing it too).

I managed to get back to the area where I met the Asari women. Can I respawn the rover?

Game looks great tho! I heard there was an option for HDR?

Bought this yesterday digitally as the Mrs wants to play it as well (bought PSN credit via CDkeys to bring the price down a tad).

I am enjoying it so far. My character looks like a less derpy version of Sara Ryder which is a plus. I do wish there were more customisation options available though.

Gameplay is solid and the animations are a little wonky in places but overall it is fine. I imagine a patch can sort out the majority of the latter issue (although I find it mostly funny than annoying).

Performance on the PS4 Pro is largely fine although I did note a hint of slowdown in the first mission. There is a lot going on in the scene so I can only assume another optimisation pass is required to iron out the kinks.

Overall I am enjoying it. :)

Played about 5 hours yesterday. I feel the issues have been blown out of proportion. Game is fun and if you enjoyed the series before hand then you will like this.

Yea you can pretty much ignore the usual internet hysterics by reflex. 99% will just be 'me tooooo' bandwagon jumping.

Wasn't going to buy any time soon due to time constraints but managed to get a promo version of the game for 50% off retail. Rude not to. It'll be here tomorrow

I made the mistake of starting multiplayer proper yesterday and ended up being on it all day. Now I'll probably not get back to the campaign. It's way too addictive. At first I wasn't sure it was as good as ME3 but by the end of the day, I'd say it was better. The verticality adds a lot of fun to it. Especially when you see giant robots boost up to come and get you. :D

I don't think that's fair. The graphical issues may have been blown out of proportion, but for many long time fans (including myself) the game is stupendously inferior to the originals.

Personally, I find it tremendously unfocused and long winded. Not too say it's all bad, there's a lot to like. But I think reviewers where more then fair, some perhaps a little too generous.
