****MASS EFFECT : ANDROMEDA****

The only problem with ME2 and perhaps ME3 is the DLC is all stuck behind the stupid Bioware points system which makes them stupidly expensive after 5 years.

One thing I don't like is how their really trying to make the whole combat side seem more 'twitchy' and fast paced. Not keen at all. Not one bit. I want an RPG to focus on the role playing elements!

I fear this will simply be a shooter with RPG elements.

TBH the game has evolved from a fairly straight laced RPG with some action elements to an action cover shooter with RPG overtones. Each iteration has gone slightly further away from RPG compared to the previous one.

The original game did atleast have fairly refined FPS shooter mechanics even if fairly simplified. Nothing worse than a game that has heavy RPG elements and then a horrific mess of mouselook and movement/shooting mechanics.

Not sure if this has been discussed yet but, I've just watched the G-SYNC HDR video from Nvidia and they confirm they were showing off the new Mass Effect game in HDR.

So i think that pretty much confirms another HDR title on PC and that is a huge + for me. On my way to preorder land!

Does anyone know who are developing Andromeda? Edmonton, Montreal or Austin?

I bloody hope Edmonton are the main developers behind this, same as the old games as I don't have much faith in the other two given their other endeavors.

I believe Montreal are the main force behind MEA.

But that gives me a lot of faith that at least the multiplayer will be good because they were behind me3mp.

I just hope the stupid 3 power limit has some other hidden mechanic that we haven't been told yet.

ME3 was a fantastic game, I have no idea what you're talking about.

90% yep - way they fleshed out Geophage and War between Telly and their sinths was awesome......

yet - reconning of our being able to take down Reapers - super annoying ninja dude and that ending - seriously that ending sucked that bad - 16 different endings my butt - 3 - and complete rip off of Deus Ex .......if you have to put out more DLC to recon stuff - add things into the game to make your ending make sense......you failed badly as a writer.

It was lazy; trite crap.....period...

For me, the ending if you opted not to choose any of the options in the final dialogue was disappointing but I actually quite liked the other ones. After such an epic journey through all 3 games it would have been an almost impossibly difficult task to get a really satisfying ending though wouldn't it...

I never finished ME3 because my friend had more time than me to play it and finished it very quickly and kept asking me where I was at and ruined it a few times by telling me what happens, and eventually ruined the ending too.

I politely asked him to stop and not tell me but he carried on thinking it was funny.

Hoping I'll be able to get through this one if it's any good without any of it being spoiled :)

Its strange to think I'm not even considering buying this game.
I had been a BioWare fan since the Neverwinter Nights series and played all of their games, but they nose dived when EA took over and the original teams left. Pretty much after Mass Effect/Dragon Age Origins they have been terrible.
Dragon Age 2/Mass Effect 3 was the end of the line for me :p

I'm sure folks will still enjoy the new game :D

I loved Dragon Age: Inquisition single player so I'd be pretty happy if Andromeda was more of the same but in space.

Hehe, are you one of them that sits and reads every single word in the books in RPGs?

Not at all...In fact quite the opposite. I hardly ever read books in RPGs. That is one of the biggest complaints I had with Dragon Age Inquisition, and why I found it totally lacking. Every side quest was told through endless notes you pick up throughout the map....There are maps in DA:I that don't have a single NPC with dialogue!...You just go around picking up notes. It was the grindiest grind you could imagine.

The last thing I want from the new ME is more of that. Side quests replaced with just picking up notes and the dreaded return from ME3 of overhearing conversations then going off and scanning planets with no interaction with anyone.

The worst thing about this coming out is that I'll have to reinstall origin if it's any good. It's not been installed on my system since I reinstalled well over a year ago.
