****MASS EFFECT : ANDROMEDA****

Wow the voice acting and line delivery for the main character is abysmal.

Agree, it's so static and out of place. The 'humour' just doesn't work. Sadly, this is the sort of thing that can't be fixed at this stage :( Really, REALLY hope this is just a bad example.

I haven't watched the video are they playing the female? All the videos I've seen with her I've felt the same. I hope the male character is better.

Yea, the female character, it's not just her, it's the AI and the team chat. It's constant. And I mean constant. The AI treats you like an absolute idiot and pretty much tells you what to do exactly. It felt like a tutorial mission, yet apparently this is pretty late into the game.

:( wonder if it's a difficulty thing? lower difficulty the more help you get or if it's possibly a toggle in the options. I can't help but think they've tried doing the funny companion lines like they did in DA I whilst running around. Which we're good to begin with but started getting tedious towards the end.

After watching that video the characters are certainly no Hale/Hillis in terms of delivery and more akin to the dryer ME1 interactions but nothing that puts me off the game, not as keen on the massive hand holding for the simple things if that's late on in the game though.

One thing that did stick out like a sore thumb is the movement/aiming in that video, I can only hope the guy was trying to make it harder for himself by simply mashing his face against the controller, fairly certain that given a few hours of training my dog would have a better hit rate :D

Multiplayer tech test is cancelled. They're just showing it off at Pax East next week instead.

Yeah the Gamespot preview also says it's looking good but it's worryingly buggy this close to release.

Wonder if it needs another month in the oven before they release it.

Well on the other hand a buggy MP would give time to play through SP without feeling that you're having to play catch up with the majority of players in unlocking new characters and equipment in MP.

I'd like to spend at least a week or two on SP (assuming it can be finished in that time) before moving on to MP.

If multiplayer is buggy, I'd say it's safe to assume single player will be just as, if not more buggy.

Hmm trying to justify a GPU upgrade and this may swing it if it gets good reviews! Don't think I could stretch to CPU and mobo though.

I'm a bit worried about this game. I've not seen much but it seems a long step away from the what made the originals so good. Fingers crossed but definitely waiting for numerous reviews.

Apologies if these have been posted before but if you have some time on your hands here are some really decent decompositions of ME1 and ME2, which cover a lot of the problems in those games:

One thing that is highlighted in both is that gameplay failings are often carried by story (ignoring the mess that was the end of ME3). Will be interesting to see the balance in Andromeda.
