Massive blast in Beirut

Difficult to fathom how, in any rational sense, someone so close would/could have survived to then upload such a video

Explosions are funny things - the way the blast unfolds as it hits various things can result in close by areas with very different pressure, etc. sometimes the pressure will even go up and over stuff close by then decimate a lot of stuff in the middle ground, etc. etc. it isn't impossible someone close by might survive if they aren't directly in the path.

Live stream is a far more likely explanation though.

I'd have said it was slightly smaller than the 2nd major blast at Tianjin though not much in it. That video doesn't really do the 2nd blast justice.

The explosion is just odd though, even the Ukraine weapons depot explosion looks similar to Tianjin

The explosion in Lebanon looks like nothing I've seen on youtube before

One of the recent big explosions in Russia looked similar.

The explosion is just odd though

The close up videos look a lot like small arms cooking off more than fireworks though impossible to be sure. The big explosion at a guess is probably more than one thing - looks like some kind of commercial bulk chemical (possibly fuel, maybe firework raw materials) mixed with possible artillery shells or something going boom at the same time.

"The streets of East Beirut lay in apocalyptic ruin even four kilometres from the epicentre of the blast. Every building in between had lost some if not all of its windows. Huge shards of glass covered roads, some jagged pieces had ripped through cars. Trees were shredded, and pools of blood were commonplace. Blood trails lead to cars, and motorbikes that had sped the injured away to clinics or hospitals that could not cope with the dead and maimed."

What idiot stores HE in the middle of a city, in a standard warehouse?!

Militia who'd be the target of the likes of Israel, etc.

On a related note https://twitter.com/IntelTweet/status/1290127034195120128 Israel has had some pretty heavy surveillance in the area over the last 24-48 hours - coincidence? (it isn't unusual for them to have some surveillance in the area as a normal thing - though the recent spike in activity could be related to ongoing political events, etc.).

Awful, looks like a mini nuke went off. In my completely not expert opinion, that can surely only be some variation of a fuel air bomb.
