Massive Car insurance costs?

Current fleet:
2015 Kia Sportage
2006 Toyota Yaris

Combined renewal is £390 fully comp for the year for wife and I

Incoming new fleet:
2024 Tesla Model Y LR
2020 Ford Feista ST3

Quotes are coming in at £1600 (combined) fully comp for the year for wife and I

To be expected I suppose, faster, higher value, potentially more nickable etc.
Mrs HB has decided she’s likes the Jaguar I-Pace instead of the Tesla. 2023 ipace is £700 a year, so just over £1k combined. Jag is cheaper to buy as well, and I get to legitimately say Jaaaaaaaag.

Just renewed my 2 cars, not too bad, with Keith Michaels (broker) they are good, I speak to the same guy each year.

Fiesta 1.6 - up £40 to £370
Skyline R34 GTR - up £150 to £1300

Agreed value of 100k, I also need to have the tracker active at a cost of about £130 a year.

I have been with Admiral for well over decade as they always very competitive. That was until last year when my premiums were almost doubled for joint insurance which is normally cheaper with them.
When I do the jump hunrdles and through hoops of getting qoutes and phoning Admiral to state qoutes sourched. They were only offering to knock off £30 for a joint cover when I had quotes at almost half their quote !
So AA got my custom.

Today is the day. Insurance renewed!

£805, so about the same as last year.
F54 Clubman in London.
Only £50 excess
All 9 points and a fault accident declared :o
Prices included Enhanced version of key cover, injury cover and hire car.

All in all not the hiding I was expecting.

Sounds like a bargain considering.

how much did premium go up from points&fault ... or is that predominately a london phenomena
It went up from around 700 to a grand. That was 4 years back when I got 6pts. 6 points fall off my insurance next renewal.

What was weird is that I did a quote without any accidents or points just to see the difference in price... and it was more expensive. Go figure.

I can't believe it...

Renewal came through for £676 with Sterling. Same level of cover but £325 excess. I was almost certain it'd be more expensive than last year.

I'll probably stay for that saving vs excess.

Given we're a year on from the thread starting, i'm hoping we'll see a bit more of a plateau from now and that everyone has already had their big increases during the last year - not looking forward to next renewal if prices keep going up at a similar rate :p

My insurance is due at the end of the month, currently waiting for my renewal drop in. After last year hike up in price I am hoping that it’s comes back do to a reasonable fee. If it goes up again, I may need to consider selling it and finding something cheaper to insure.

My prices have gone up across the board in the house, including the two I run, 2005 fiesta has gone up about £40 to £330, and my BMW M2 has gone up £150 to £1330 :(
