Massive Car insurance costs?

Wow just had my renewal…. 22% increase , after last years increases too, if I can’t find it cheaper in next week time for it go. If i had points etc I can understand, but i have well over 10 years NCB, 1 claim in the last 5 years that wasn’t my fault someone else hit my parked car in front of the house. It’s a shame as I love my car, but I can’t keep affording these increases.

Given we're a year on from the thread starting, i'm hoping we'll see a bit more of a plateau from now and that everyone has already had their big increases during the last year - not looking forward to next renewal if prices keep going up at a similar rate :p
Was hoping to see the same, I was looking on Autotrader earlier today, Land Rovers have definitely dropped in price as they’re stuck on garage forecourts

my insurance company was not showing on the comparison sites weirdly, then got an email saying auto renewal is off 3 weeks before it ends and bang a lot cheaper too.
Admiral do this with all their companies, if you look for quotes during renewal period, they just don't show up

Age and time licence held must weight it hugely, I've just run a quote as I currenly have 0 NCB (just didn't own a car for about 8 years) but hopefully have 1 year soon... its gone from ~£500 to £330

That's on a 1.2 micra though, deeply unfasionable! And I'm 45years old, driving since 19, clean record etc.

My insurance gone from £650 to £780.

I heard the rise has abated and there are more completion and month on month price has started to come down.

Might re-evaluate my premium end of year. Current policy has admin charge of £56 for cancellation. If I can shave £100+ compared with £780 still worth me cancel early and take out new policy.

Mine last year £980 fully comp. 1 year ncb on a Pug 208 with its massive 110 bhp. That was with budget.
This year Renault Captur 1.3 litre £1180 with 2 years ncb.
Motorbike would have gone from £260 with 15 years ncb to £440 with 16 years NCB before I sold it.

38 year old 20 years with full motorbike licence and 2 years as a car driver.
Had to put the wife and my Mum as additional drivers for the car. Absolute pish take.

Yeah it's really annoying. I'm not condoning fraud but if you were likely to sell your car to a friend and they were doing the insurance quote to see how much it would cost THEM to insure, this would work.

Yes, or indeed you accidentally spelled your surname slightly wrong
