Masterchef: The Professionals

Ash will win barring a major balls up. He's just awesome.
I've somehow missed the majority of episodes with him in, but having caught up with the show from last night I'm genuinely amazed at just how good he is and how humble he is with it.

Compare him with Steve, who has all the skills but the ego to match, and Ash looks like a shoe-in for the title.

Would be content just seeing him cook stuff, but then the whole TV chef thing is a bit beneath him.
He's got a half-hour masterclass episode on Friday, so that ought to be a real treat.

oh i don't know. i was hooked after the firrst 2 and thought it was really good. i liked fred to.

good result tonight. good battle that and oli made a lovely 2 dish finish

Great, will keep an eye out for it on iplayer.

Ye, I liked Fred too, was a cool team behind the program and the idea was worthy but just found myself losing interest. Not much potential for anything happening beyond the obvious which we got early on, a few interesting titbits but not enough variety overall to keep it going for 8 hour long episodes.

That seemed to be a curious pairing tonight.

Kim seemed capable enough, but the bar has been raised in this series and she never seemed to hit that mark. There's something there, but she needs to stop trying so hard and work on perfecting simpler dishes. I can't remember where she's working now, but a few year's of working on the line in fine-dining restaurants ought to see her okay.

With her two dishes, if she'd have served the halibut part of her main on its own she could well have made it through to the final, but I couldn't see her having a chance against someone like Ash. Full marks for her dessert though - even though I felt that she chose the wrong type of plate to serve it on which almost ruined the effect.

Oli's got talent and put together a couple of fantastic dishes, but the wheels came off during service at Gleneagles and I don't see him as someone suited to the rigours of high-end fine-dining. If he gets his wish of owning a seafood restaurant, then good luck to him - that certainly seems to be his forte.

His main dish tonight looked the part and impressed the judges but his dessert just looked tired and old-fashioned. As far as presentation goes, he's a long way behind the competition and needs to decide on just what his style really is.

But why were these two pitted together? It seems to me that either of them would have been easy-pickings for Claire or Steve and yet its one of those two who won't make it through to the final.

oli is a talent and his food looked lovely last night and im not a big fish lover.

i can't wait for tonights to see who goes through but i think claires going to nail it for some reason and pull off an amazing dish to win it. i'm probably wrong though lol. ash is very very good.

Ok, I'll say it. Claire is pretty hot.

Both are good but I think Steve will win through on account of him being a man and therefore inherently better at cooking.

I must have missed that guy...what's his name?

It turns out I was meaning 'ash' :o Jingo - accent interpreter extraordinaire! :p

lol. peter griffin indeed.

I know I shouldn't have mentioned that - it's catching on! ;)

:D

I think tonight's is the toughest match so far - though Oli last night really surprised me; he seemed to really pull it out of the bag!

Greg stating his Sole was on par with MRjr is quite the compliment!

Wooo! Right decision made!

I couldn't see how they could possibly choose between them. Looks like I was right. I don't think Ash is the favourite anymore either.

who went through? my flat mate came into my room and started talking at me just as they were announcing it :/

I've enjoyed this series.

Didn't think there was much between them tonight, I certainly had no problems with them both going through, but I'd have personally opted for Claire, she looked like she belonged in that kitchen and her recreation was spot on.

I'm not so sure there is a favourite for the final either, all four are very good and very talented chefs, I'm sure that all four have very promising careers lined up.
