Mattresses - I need knowledge

I'm popping into Dreams today to try this Ottoman in a 4'6" double.

It has a wood base for storage which is good and storage is 29cm deep which is very good. I have limited space in my flat so have been wanting an Ottoman for a while.

I don't want to spend ridiculous money on a mattress but this pocket sprung one looks ok? Might get about 5 years or so out of it.

We've got 4 John Ryan mattresses but I need a cheaper mattress for a short term rental. Any recommendations for something more around £250-350? That Dreams one above doesn't look bad, but also curious about one of the Emma/Simba's etc as a) easier to get into a flat and b) no springs to damage.

Can anyone recommend a mattress similar to the TEMPUR CoolTouch Sensation Elite Mattress?

Tried this at Dreams and it was so comfy, but £2.5k for a superking is a bit much.

I'm on the look out as well, but the choice is just bewildering. Side sleeper here, 6ft and 85-90kg depending on time of year/direction of the wind. Any preferences or tips?

Spotted these, anyone tried one? Same typical 100 night trial and 10 year warranty.

We have just purchased an Emma Original, it arrived yesterday. I did try one at an Airb&B property and thought it felt good.

The one we received yesterday, for some reason, it does not feel the same. Normally on a memory foam mattress, you can feel the memory foam sink slightly and leave a slight hand print for a couple of seconds, this one you can't.

We got this to replace our silentnight memory foam mattress and I can say that this Emma Memory Foam mattress is not any better! I am very disappointed in the Emma mattress.

As soon as my partner laid on it she said "there is no difference from the silentnight one!" I thought "She is just saying it as I had bought the new Emma one!" No, she is right, there isn't any difference!

We have the 200 night trial, but I will give it a week and if it doesn't improve, it will be going back in a week.

I am a side sleeper and my partner also sleeps on her side a lot, and sometimes sleeps on her back.

May be a real post but something about this as a 1st post doesn't seem quite right.

Silentnight Geltex Ultraflex 3000 Mattress

Has anyone got any experience with the above mattress? Have seen them crop up a few times online for reasonable prices and lots of good reviews. Costco have some good deals on them atm (£160 off - £640 for Super King!) so contemplating getting one when we move house.

How do you guys research a mattress, are there specific websites you trust/refer to?
The MIL has a Which subscription and after reading some of the reviews i'm still left wondering just how comfortable the mattresses are going to be.

Previously I bought one of the John Ryan mattresses blindly and it was just "OK", it was comfortable and well made but think for a future purchase i'm going to go to a shop and test some of them out.

The most highly rated one on Which is the EVE Original and Premium Hybrid Mattresses with scores of 81%. In fact their top 6 are either an EVE or Emma mattress, followed by Silentnight Studio by Silentnight Gel.

This was recently launched:

100 Night Trial, eco-friendly, utilises bamboo which is an amazing natural material plus free set up, removal of packaging plus free removal of old mattress.

All sounds amazing from their blurb but £1500 may be a little more than I wanted to spend for a Super King.

My John Ryan will be here on Friday, I’ll let you know how it goes. It’s the standard origins pocket in medium.

That said, it’s replacing a very old and rather firm basic unbranded mattress so it’s bound to be a significant improvement regardless.

I did try some briefly in a bed shop and I found traditional mattress to be better than the foam or hybrid type.

I just think they lacked comfort and felt like they would wear very quickly compared to a proper pocket sprung model.

Other things like if you sit/lie near the side of the bed, they just rolled away beneath you because they lack the structural support at the edges.
