Let me ask you something:

Are you against the stoning of children in Pakistan? Are you against the "honour killings" that happen in Pakistan? They claim to be all devout Muslims following the teachings.

Are you against the killing of that cartoonist who drew Mohammed?

Ermmm why dont you read what i just said;)...i think you can draw your own conclusions from that as to where i stand on such things:).

Everything you just mentioned goes completely against the true meaning of islam....whether or not you take my word for it is your choice of course.

Well this just shows how young you are because up until the early 80s (that I know of) virtually every school still had assemblies singing about God and RE was compulsory.

You still have complete choice. I went to a school where I attended Mass every fortnight - I still had complete freedom of choice as to what I chose to beleive in.

You may have had choice like I did but I can guarantee you that in the 70s you had to attend assembly and RE was compulsory.

It wasn't in the schools I attended in the late 70s and early 80s. RE was compulsory up until the 3rd year, but it was more an education on religion rather than an indoctrination into one. Considering some of my schooling was also in Northern Ireland I would expect it to be worse there rather than better than the rest of the country.

Of course they choice wasn't with the child it was with the parents :)

It was all the years through Primary school and the first 3 years at High school like you've just said so I make that around 8 years of being force fed little baby Jesus and his Dad (who is himself woteva).
Of course in Primary school we all took it in like our Muslim friends so we're no different and it's only recent years that RE has not been compulsory.

We learnt about more than just Christianity. Maybe it varied by school?

On the plus side though it has been a awfully long time since we killed/imprisoned people for going "You know what, now I have thought about it I don't think I want to be a Christian anymore."

Not me, we only did Christianity in High School and it wasn't a religious school either.
I was about 18 when I took an interest in other religions and the crap they believe in.

On the plus side though it has been a awfully long time since we killed/imprisoned people for going "You know what, now I have thought about it I don't think I want to be a Christian anymore."

But even during the 70s it was unthinkable to tell somebody you didn't believe in God.
I was 18 (in 1976) when I told people I was atheist and I had very strange looks off people as though I was a Satanist or something.
Even in 1980 when I got married we were scared to tell our very large family that we weren't getting married in church.

yet here you are happily insulting millions of people over the actions of a few....

1) The goal isn't (necessarily) to insult, it's the reader who decides to be insulted. And is the belief in this prophet so weak it can't stand a piece of paper and a pencil? Get over it... Ignore it... This could all be a valuable lesson in the end! Why the need for egg-shells with one religion with over blown self importance?
2) If some folk want to get insulted over basically nothing, so be it - Compared on the scale to the repeated death threats (& worse) it's surely a drop in the ocean!
3) It's resulted in some damn funny material.

If you take offence to people burning the Union Jack, then you're just as lame as these people you're talking about.

National "pride" is ridiculous, and your country of origin is simply a random occurrence that has no real "value" to who you are as a person. I can only say you're privileged to have been born in the UK, than some poverty stricken slum in India where the only form of hydration you can get is from dirty diseased water.

National pride is just as bad as religious pride (and I mean pride in terms of people getting angry when they feel their *something* is being disrespected. They have the same principles and are just as equally ridiculous. Let's ban and or mock football because a minority of its supporters who are full of illegal amounts of "national pride" ruin it for everyone else by going to kick some one's head in because they're from another country and support their country's football team. (ban football because it's crap :p)

National "pride" is ridiculous

You, my friend, are a fool. You seem to be trying to connect this with football for some reason.
And to believe that feeling tribal is ridiculous makes you even more the fool.
Tell me something, would you burn The Union Flag? And if not, why not? Nationalism is tribal at every level and you don't like that. So why wouldn't you burn the English or British flag?

What is your answer?

And the bible, torah amongst other religious books dont condone violence/killing in the name of religion....from what ive been reading it seems like they do too condone the use of violence/killing...i mean Bush even said that God told him to go and attack Iraq lol....and he was a deeply religious guy.

So its not only the Quran that condones violence/killing in the name of religion....but dont let that get in the way of your rant eh??.

Yep, you are right about the Torah, but you must remember that this is a book from the Bronze Age.
Stop trying to compare apples and pears! The Q'uran is from a more enlightened and civilised time and yet it still manages to transgress most of the civilised taboos. We already had the moral boundaries set when Islam decided to rewrite them and bring no morality back to life.

+1 for the Jews TBH.

Still waiting kylew.
Would you burn our flag?

Anyone else offended by kylew saying there's nothing wrong with burning our country's flag? Or is it just me...

No don't be silly.
Would you get more upset at me burning a a piccy of Mo the Paedo or Jordan if you come from Jordan. I think I know the answer.
The attack on your sovereignty would be your first concern I'm sure. But you can't speak from experience because we aren't that vulgar in the West.

i don't agree with that but i'l just quote an earlier post of mine and if you would be kind enough to give a straight:p answer to it .

just wondering if people would feel the same if the problem was closer to home for them....say for example if it was a few gays who had killed/threatened....after all we all could have someone gay in our family or have close friends who are gay

So would the reaction have been the same if a few gays had killed/threatened someone over mocking gays ?
would it be ok to create facebook pages(?) and to start mocking all gays over the actions of a few ?

and if your answer is yes it's ok then would you be part of the gay bashing and still feel you hold the moral high ground ?

Well this just shows how young you are because up until the early 80s (that I know of) virtually every school still had assemblies singing about God and RE was compulsory.

Indeed. Religious classes, assemblies, and even a saturday school were compulsory for me throughout the 90s, just because my parents wanted me to do them.

The more that people tried to teach me about religion, the more I realised it was one big sheet of plenty. Also when you told people you were an atheist, you then got treated like an even bigger sheet of plenty .

Let the free criticism of religion live on. Its absolutely absurd how people think that religion should have some kind of protection against being criticized, humiliated and mocked, when religion (particularly Islam, and sometimes Christianity) have a free god given right to discriminate against people who dont follow their religions or life according to what their holy books say.

I would feel the same disdain for gays if they behaved like Muslims to be honest.
I feel dislike for them already for trying to buck the system in their favour, but I detest the Muslim way of demanding and threatening.

but what if the goal wasn't (necessarily) to insult and someone was just burning the flag for a laugh ?
