Wow.
The thing is I have a mate who is the same age as me and he was cast out by his Roman Catholic family because he wanted to marry a normal girl.
'We' are not that far in front of Islam.

If "we" refers to religious people, then I agree. I'm normal though, like the girl you mention.

I think we can conclude that atheism is the right choice.

Ive been watching this thread for a while but kept out of it.

As an ex muslim *shock*horror* I am embarrased to remember how easily I was taken in & definitely brainwashed by what I now see as pure fantasy just like all the other religions.
In recent times it's become the religion of fanatics, idiots, & the laughing stock of the free world & I am glad I am rid of it

I was raised a Muslim as a boy in Pakistan where I was beaten in school if I couldn't learn pages of the Quran quickly enough,I remember some boys were beaten on the soles of their feet.
When we came to England & I grew up here I began to hate everything as just like Bhavv my parents were strict & everything revolved round being a good muslim before anything else.
my dad forbade my sisters from leaving the house at one point because a friend of mums had seen them talking to a boy outside school & they missed 3 weeks of school before anyone apparently noticed & sent someone round the house ,

when I met a girl at work who came from a non practicing Christian background I knew it would enrage my parents & when they eventually found out my dad tried to ban me from seeing her, lol I was 23 & they had a girl in pakistan lined up for me & it was all aranged at great expence & I couldn't get out of it:rolleyes:
they only met her the once & altho my Mother tried to be respectful my dad was openly hostile firing questions at her till she started crying
The idea put to them that I wanted to marry this girl & the demand that she must convert to Islam was the final straw.

we are now happily married with 2 lovely children that my parents will never see as they stopped all contact with me, only my younger sister keeps in secret contact, she tells me that it is forbidden to mention my name, she also told me that dad had a stroke recently that partly paralised but even on his deathbed I won't go near him a i know what will happen.

so basically Islam has broken up my family but just like Bhavv I care not as I am now free.:D

Thats really bad tbh mate...as a muslim thats totally abhorrent...i have family members who act like that and i definitely keep my distance away from them.

But leaving islam??..well thats your choice i suppose...main thing as long as your happy.

Funnily enough it just isnt muslims who do this...my sis in law comes from a hindhu background and she converted into islam about 10 yrs ago...they have 2 kids and her dad has told her in no uncertain circumstances that she is dead for him and has nothing to do with her or her kids....her mum on the other hand has absolutely no problem with it and is happy that her daughter is happily married:)

So go figure eh that this sort of behaviour isnt just confined to muslims...hindhus, sikhs and other religious folk have major major issues with converting from one to another...geez i could be here all night telling you stories about my hindhu and sikh friends who married hindhu or sikh girls....you think their parents accepted their partners?? **** no lol.

he he , looks like you lost one, poor bloke will probably burn in hell if shakeel & spawn dont get him first

WTF is the matter with you??...seriously stop talking such utter crap all the time...

As far as Usher is concerned....it does not bother me iota that he left islam...his choice ultimately and sadly his parents forced him to do that so if anyone is the wrong its his parents, not him. I sure as hell dont condemn him or want to lynch him...hes his own person as far as im concerned and is fully capable of making his own decisions.

Personally im lucky in that my parents, who are extremely religious never forced islam upon me or my 2 brothers...FFS my fiancee was a pretty strict catholic girl having been brought up as one but shes now become muslim...she has been for the past 6 mths and she hasnt done it for me but for herself. And before you even dare try to slate her decision, ill tell you this...shes neither dumb, stupid or mentally ill...i had her checked before starting a relationship with her:p....but as i was saying shes very very well educated...has a masters degree in finance and is now a financial director of her company in the city. As for my parents??..they absolutely positively adore her especially my mum, whos very religious...funnily enough she said to me as long as your happy son thats all that matters.

So yeh thats another one to our side;)...and ill just say this, i know you deny and your 3 bum chums deny it...but there are far more people converting to islam than leaving.

Fixed;)

No it isnt and dont try and make out that it is....perhaps for you it is but for many others it isnt.

All the best man,

You are well out of the madness that is shown quite clearly in this thread.

good wishes to you and yours.

your saying that your parents didn't force Islam upon you but like all religions the 'training' starts at a very early age, long before you could make your own decisions as a schoolboy

It's interesting that your Fiancee was a strict Catholic , but can I ask what would have been your decision if she had asked you to convert to her religion rather than hers to yours?

Islam doesnt condone honour killings despite the rubbish your fed by the media....

But leaving islam??..well thats your choice i suppose...main thing as long as your happy.

Volume 4, Book 52, Number 260:

Ali burnt some people and this news reached Ibn 'Abbas, who said, "Had I been in his place I would not have burnt them, as the Prophet said, 'Don't punish (anybody) with Allah's Punishment.' No doubt, I would have killed them, for the Prophet said, 'If somebody (a Muslim) discards his religion, kill him.' "

Lying again Spawn?

Nah, he's that brainwashed that his Imams (spin doctors) will make him see a blatant bit of rhetoric like this as a mere nothing!

I'm waiting for him to post on how we are misunderstanding this... after hes talked to his witch doctor obviously!

Volume 4, Book 52, Number 260:

Now, that quotation is from a book of Hadiths, that is narrations of sayings and doings of Mohammed, peace be upon him, and his companions, may God be pleased with them. So to speak.

Not from the Quran, where the nearest thing to advocating death to apostates is the well known 'slay them wherever you find them', I think. And that is as often misused as misrepresented, sad to say.

My view is one of giving much credence to the Quran. But less so to Hadiths, which, interesting though they are, are only indirect reportage. The 'authenticity' of them only refers to the chain of narration and not the content so much. And I have a strong feeling that some of them were simply made up.:(
