McDonald’s general discussion

Went to McDonalds for lunch today. Can’t eat in, main doors blocked with a worktop and till, taking orders from the door and bringing them from the kitchen to you at the door. Outside crowded with junkies and bums.

3rd and Pine, Seattle. What a dump. This city used to be beautiful.

I don't usually go to McDonalds when I'm travelling but sometimes with work it's all I have time/energy for. Been to US McDonalds 3 times in the last 10 years and 2/3 times I was genuinely scared for my life. Not going again.

If in states that have them I rate In'n'Out a lot higher so try and go there.

I always thought the Mc rib was terrible, it's not really any better than the 'Rustlers' microwave jobbies you can get from the supermarket for about £1.20 when they are on offer....

...and I bet McD's will be charging about a fiver a piece for them.
I’ve never had one TBF. Will probably try this time.

Hopefully in the UK they're not as tight with the sauce on the McRib. They're a permanent menu item in Germany and every time I get one they're pretty much caked in sauce like this and it's great:

But when I had one in Spain back in July they were really tight with it:

Still enjoyed it, but the messy German one was still king.

With the German one do you not just taste the sauce and nothing else? I'd prefer the Spanish one TBH.

Is the mc rib very fatty meat?
Not really. I haven’t had one for a few years but it was more finely minced gristle than fat. There’s probably more fat in the sauce (which I liked)

The bun was dry, there wasn’t enough sauce, not enough ‘fresh’ onion. It’s not a menu staple tho so it will vary place to place as quite a few things do.

I think the shaped meat comes in big bags of sauce which get heated up to keep the meat slabs warm. If you get your fair share of sauce then it’s not bad.

4/10. Will get again :p

Well they are both processed meat with a sweet sauce and processed bread roll so guess there’s a lot of similarities.

It’s likely they are a ‘boil in the bag’ meat product as McDees don’t like to use pork and beef on their griddles at the same time. Doesn’t bode well but deffo going to give them a workout!

Had one Friday and definitely not as nice I the ones I remember from Germany, the reason they're back for a short period (and were discontinued in the 1st place) is because Maccies has a policy of not doing beef and pork on the same griddle, most Maccies now don't have enough space for the extra griddle to keep them apart, I saw an official explanation link somewhere but struggling to find it.

And in answer to the BBQ sauce comment above, I got one of the little sauce tubs ready to overload, there wasn't enough sauce and only 4 little bits of onion

Well what can I say about todays McRib experience without using words that would see me banned for life from here.

It was imo absolutely awful and am convinced it is an in joke amongst the McDonalds board members with weekly video's from around the UK showing the look on peoples faces from looking at it and then having the displeasure of eating it.

I had a McRib the other night, considering the way people have been harping on about it for years my expectations were slightly higher than the Rustlers BBQ Pork Rib sandwich they served me in a McDonalds box. Wasn't awful, but even if it became a regular menu item I doubt I'd order it again. They seemed to forget to put any salt on the fries too.
