Mercedes Benz and AMG Owners

To be honest the car is an 'ok' blend of power and eco, but not enough in either to be great if that makes sense?

Yep, I know exactly what you mean! It could almost go quick, but just not enough

I just dropped the E63 off at the garage for repair. I pulled away from the lights, foot to the floor....barely moved!?

Going bat **** crazy means you come home with a Lambo or similar super car, not a large engined, comfortable German saloon

Surely its all relative to what your budget is. If you drive an Aygo, going bat**** crazy could be an M3 or a Caterham. Supercars are largely irrelevant to the majority of people as they aren't affordable to the masses

Ok, I didn’t think he meant going crazy in a monetary sense, but in terms of the car’s performance.

When you mentioned not being sure you could justify getting a V8, again I didn’t think of this as budget related - you can get older/cheaper V8s etc.

I’ve known people to feel these cars (V8s) were simply excessive for daily use, but then they are not usually car enthusiasts.

If Im honest I think my E63S is too fast for the road and I am a car enthusiast. I love it and think that sort of performance is outrageous but it puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. When I said I couldnt decide I could justify buying a v8, I meant I work from home and couldnt decide spending a large sum of money on a car I would barely use was a sensible idea.

Going crazy in a monetary sense is pretty much linked to performance. You either pay out a lot of money at the outset to get a reliable high performance car or you buy an older and cheaper high performance car and expect it to go wrong and have to pay out large sums of money to fix what is an expensive car and of course the "lot of money" is relative to their budget

I am surprised you think the E63s is "too fast for the road". I always felt like around 600bhp was a good starting point in terms of power for a performance car. 700bhp - 800bhp is ideal to make use of all situations of the road these days. Anyhow lovely cars and hope you enjoy it! Consider a stage 1 remap! Will take it to 700bhp easily :)

I've driven the C63 twice this month, makes me so sad :(

The two times I've driven it has been for half an hour up and down the A34 just to give it a decent run. Cannot wait to have a proper run in it again, as soon as we're allowed to do so, going to do a decent road trip. My trip to the 'ring got cancelled last October because of the pandemic so still want to rearrange that, but can't see that being possible for a long while yet

When I was younger I would have probably said the same thing but I’m virtually 50 now and when I had the E43 I thought 400bhp was plenty enough and for me I think that is the sweet spot but I wanted a v8 so I could tick that off for one of my life experiences. It’s probably because I’m old. Still, as I said, it puts a smile on my face when I drive it and the noise is epic

I'd say he is definitely the exception, not the rule!

400 is plenty to get you smiling, 500 is bonkers smiles.

600 as a starting point...

Bizarre. If it was all about huge bhp then we wouldn’t need Caterhams etc.

My Cayman had half the bhp of my RS6, do you want to guess which one is more exciting to drive?

in all honesty, I'm not sure what I meant by something bat****; I'd consider getting rid of my pristine A45, any buying an E63S, as a bit bat****, sure. But equally getting something italian is in the same boat. But no, can't afford a Ferrari, obviously! :D

Part of whaat is on my mind is the inability to get these types of engines in the relatively near future; With new laws passed, the large petrol engine is done for - how many more times are you able to get a relatively new (or new even) v8, v10 or v12? No time like the present!

The Alfa Quadrifoglio is screaming at you.

Is your A45 tuned?

Sorry for the delay - managed to snap some pictures of my new car after managing to get it washed and waxed today. :) Found out the rear washer isn't working... mildly irritating. Need to get that booked in.
