Mercedes Benz and AMG Owners

Certainly not feeling the new C63, but then as an owner of the previous model, i don’t think MB are gunning for my money.

It has occurred to me that MB seem to manage to alienate every previous gen C63 owner when they release the new gen :D

Yep an AMG without a v8 wont be the same but its a sign of the times unfortunately as automakers were required to meet fleet wide CO2 targets

It wouldn't be as much of a problem if they were an amazing drive and super reliable but for a long time, the main selling point in the C63, and to a lesser extent the E63, has been the V8 - at least in the eyes of the buyers.

I think without it, Merc/AMG are going to struggle with their image.

BMW M = driving dynamics
Audi S/RS = Good looking
Merc/AMG = Power & noise

Will be interesting to see how they try and reinvent themselves.

It will all be rather short lived whatever happens as they all move towards full EV unless Germany get their way and get the e-fuel thing signed off by the EU but I doubt e-fuels will keep ICE cars alive much longer unless you are loaded or they make e-fuels commercially viable for everyone at quantity which I doubt.

Yeah 100% the noise has always been the draw for most

When I bought the new C63S in February, I was test driving M3/4/5's and was a signature away from an M5 Comp, but I just hated how muted they were, especially the M5, you put your foot down and the sensation of speed is incredible but the lack of noise surprises you so much that it almost just takes away from it.

Whereas the C63S, even though it's a 2021 with the OPF, sounds fantastic. Not quite as good as the glory days of the NA or the pre-OPF days, but still miles ahead of BMW and Audi's equivalent offerings

How easy was it for you to find a facelift S estate? I friend of mine is looking for one and they are very thin on the ground.

Mine was the only one for sale in the country at the time and happened to be exactly at the time I started looking, I've seen a couple since but yeah, they seem to be very rare.

My daughter bought a ‘68 A class back in October

She’s now trying to sell through Motorway but it asks for service history proof.
I’m sure it’s all online now but the car is still showing as registered to the previous owner and she can’t use the app.

Is there away to get the records or is it a dealer visit required to reset?

The service history is all on Mercedes' online system. I just checked the app and there isnt any service history information other than when the next service is due. You will have to go to the dealer unfortunately as the car isnt registered to her as the other way to check is via the Mercedes Me online portal which brings up your car details if you have registered

Cheers, we did try registering the Mercedes Me app, but same thing there, won't let us as it's registered elsewhere. I'll have to get her to ring Mercedes this morning i guess.

Annoyingly she can't find the V5 either so unsure if she can even sell with just the New Keeper Slip she got at purchase.

Some independents are able to get a printout if it’s easier than going to a dealer. If not it’s a dealer trip as Bear mentions.

If the car is still registered to the previous owner in the Mercedes Me app, you will have to go into the dealership to get that changed anyway (take your ID and V5). I’ve still to sort mine.

My car went in for a B service today and was quoted £595.00 when I booked it. Took it in and I waited while it was getting done, luckily the Ashes was on the TV so I was enjoying seeing the Aussies get a kicking. Before I knew it, I had been there for two and a half hours, so I asked how much longer it was going to take as I had been there for a few hours, the lady came back five minutes later saying it’s almost ready and she would get the bill ready. She came out a moment later and asked me to pay the bill and for keeping me so long they knocked off some money off the service. I looked at the bill and they charged me £455.00, not a bad discount for watching the cricket. Not all Mercedes dealers are bad

L&L Automotive in Hemel Hempstead, it used to be owned by Mercedes.
Dang, too far for me :(

Quite a result though. On a similar note I had my Passat into VW for an alignment. Car went in at 8am, 430pm they call saying a track rod end had seized and they needed it overnight. I was a bit miffed as had they started it earlier, I could have arranged a lift home instead of a taxi.

Get the car back the following day and I was still a little prickly about it, so I mentioned it. ‘Sorry sir, we’ll see what we can do’ was the response. I was expecting a few quid off, I got £90ish off. I was cool with that, but now I’m thinking I should complain all the time :D

Rumour has it after all the complaints AMG have had going to a 4 pot for the C63 and a straight 6 for the E63, they decided to go back to a v8 and are currently modifying the 4l v8 to be euro7 compliant, so the v8 will be back

Unfortunately, that rumours already been shot down by Mercedes :( unless it's them trying to keep their development under wraps, but I'm not holding my breath

Sadly I think the days of such engines are over. That said, looking at the performance and environmental pros of electric alternatives, I’m slowly coming around to the idea.
