Mercedes Benz and AMG Owners

Back and in use.

Fresh MOT, brakes needed a rebuild, but done and sorted. Serviced and in use. Few wee issues:

Leak in the diff - will keep an eye after some use
Aircon dead - suspect leak and not a "regas"
Electric Aerial not on the chain, need a new one

A few bonuses too:

Radio has a hidden SD slot, yay for mp3's
All 4 tyres and good Vredesteins
Dim dash lights turned out to be adjustable - just wasn't obvious
Central vents cold - designed that way
Missing front mudflap - found in the spare wheel well and fitted

Drives smooth, impressive for an old girl like this.

Can anything be done to improve the 7g tronic gearbox at all?
I'm going to give it a fluid change and service for added smoothness but is there anything to be done to add a bit of speed or responsiveness?

I believe there is a remap available for the transmission unit software which speeds up shift times, responsiveness and behavior etc but I've never driven a car with it so don't know how it compares to stock or whether it is even worth it for road use. Probably worth speaking to someone like Eurocharged.

Currently in the north of the country to help a mate collect his new car..

I left him with the dealer to take a snoop around and spotted this

Stunning. Simply stunning.

Oooh, a thread I can join! Ordered the wife an A180d Sport last week as she has started a new job. Just waiting for cooling off period to finish before I can pick it up. Not exactly what we wanted but needed it quickly and it seemed a fairly good lease deal for what you get at 1 + 23 payments of £229.

So the new handful-of-a-name "E220 Amg Night Edition Bluetec", I have this E220 for however long my car takes to repair. I like the funky LED headlights.

The seats are not fully electronic, everything but moving the seat back and forth is motorised. The pillars are so damn large they get in the way of blind spots, and the wing mirrors are too square to get a nice wide view of the sides like I'm used to. Less height, more width would have been much better.

I like the PDC system, the little LED indicators on the front and rear dash is an interesting take compared to a backup camera and radar guidance. Feels simple, but effective.

Steering is way too light though.

The pdc system is totally crap? Felt like something from the late 90s and its presence in a 2015 E Class was something I found most odd. The equivalent BMW and Audi cars have has a graphical radar representation on a screen for at least 10 years.

Hmm in the F30 I liked the graphical display a lot, but I also like this. I'm not a fan of backup cameras though, too fisheye for my liking, the graphical or LED/audio tone system just works better for me.

It's amazing that Mercedes are still selling a car nearly as old as your E46.

It came out in 2009 and will be replaced next year, standard 7 year cycle and not nearly as old as the e46.

Which makes the presence of the old school pdc more curious.
