Mercedes Benz and AMG Owners

My Golf R Estate lease ends in November so I've been searching for a replacement. I'm done with the quick car thing and want something higher quality.
I'm close to ordering a new E Class Coupe E220d AMG auto and was going to select the Command Online and Widescreen Options (£2k) but this naturally takes it over the £40k threshold for additional tax, so over 3 years I'll be paying another £1k tax :( (how many iPads can you get with £3k :p )

Does anyone have any images of the standard new E-Class infotainment system please?

I use the new E Class Saloon quite regularly with the Comand and Widescreen and it's a great interior. Having tried the Coupe it's a lovely car as well, and the new 220d is a very good engine. We struggled to get the widescreen cockpit back in November as they had a shortage of the screens, but they managed to find one that had it.

Without though, the standard clocks are fine, but the small nav screen looks a bit lost in the dash, surrounded by lots of glossy plastic. It'd get the job done though.

Found a picture of one with it:

I got a new C Class 220d SE Executive last week.

Much impressed with the interior and hardware, a slight whinge about the slightly yellowy halogen headlights and the hesitant
wipers [ something you never think of testing on the test drive !! ] but overall I'm very pleased.

I'm nervous of trying the Park Assist, I'll wait till I find a quiet road with a few spaces so I can experiment.

Wow Rotty, that is totally ruined compared with the Widescreen Cockpit. Absolutely essential option IMO.

^^Must admit that does look a little out of place when you're used to seeing the widescreen there.

Not the best picture but speaking of the dash design - the new S Coupe with the widescreen and digital dials is lush...

Also, finally picked up our new A180 Sport yesterday. Its a Premium Plus so quite a few toys and specced a couple of other options too. Seems well put together and it's good to see the full spec and colour combo together finally! I was quite impressed with the service at the dealer too - a lot better than my more local ones.

Highlight of the day was getting to poke around in the new E63 AMG S while waiting around. 612hp ... :o

I know... jaw dropping really - the price and the looks :p

Maybe in a few (many) years time when they've dropped a little...

Yeah, a car i can certainly see myself going for in <quite a few> years time.

That said...by then perhaps i will have gone for a GTC instead, for my 4-seater convertible needs.

I guess i am not the right person to answer that question, i only ever cash purchase depreciated fairly fully loaded cars with the large engine options, so i would always consider fundamental options such as that to be a deal breaker.

Attempting to be objective - i think i would dislike the car so much without that option, that i would attempt to compromise somewhere else, if it had to be brand new. If not possible then i would ignore the car and go for a lightly used example with similar benefits to that of a new car, if i could find one.

Ugh so more Airmatic fun and games! I got the 'Visit Workshop' message again so stuck it on STAR and went through the tests. Couldn't hear any hissing leaks at all from anywhere - checked all wheel areas/struts, reservoir and pump location.

It's pretty intermittent though and sometimes it gets up to the 14bar threshold and sometimes it doesn't which is leading me to think it's the pump on the way out. I have a repair kit for it but before I start ripping the wheel arch apart, any other suggestions? :)

That's the C class in the picture though, I think? Doesn't have the rubbish touch dial thing in the middle. Only bad thing with the new E are the haptic pads in the steering wheel and the touch dial in the center console. Absolute junk user interfaces.

Nope, that's the E Class without COMAND Nav and Widescreen Cockpit.

Any one in here with any thoughts on the GLC? Considering a GLC43 - for the money they look really well placed, solid all rounder and at least appears to tick quite a few boxes?

Have put a deposit down - spec is...

GLC43 Premium Plus
Selenite Grey
360 camera
Carbon fibre/aluminium trim
Driver assistance package
Omission of red designo seatbelts
20" AMG alloys

Looking forward to it, delivery should be December. :D

Nice, but why not the 63?!

Also, the red seatbelts are cool, should have kept them!

63 is amazing but just a bit too OTT. The 43 whilst not a 'real' AMG seems to be the right amount of go (at least in a straight line) and it just seems to tick a lot of boxes, especially at the price point (approx £5k off via Carwow).
