Metro: Exodus [E3 2017]

So the further I get with this the better the performance seems to be.

Once I reached the Yamantau Mountains, then the complex and now the desert the performance is decent.

Performance was a bit patchy at the beginning of the game. First couple of hours.

Also could they not have choosen a better name for one of the characters instead of 'id i ot'?

Well , if you read the lore, the character actually picks that nickname for himself, due to him being one of the smartest people in the unit and how people made fun of him for it so he picked the nickname idiot :)

They just announced PS5 version running at 4/60 with RT. Will be interesting to see how a 3070/3080 stacks up to that, my 3080 dipped below 60 at some points @ 1440/extreme with DLSS off. Might boot it up again and see how 4k/60/Ultra or High runs.

Depends, what resolution is it really? Fake 4K is pretty common now, how will the RT quality compare to the PC? Which PC quality setting will it be comparable too, if any? What did they have to sacrifice to achieve 60fps?

Console and PC comparisons are never straight forward.

My guess is the RT will be a lot lower than PC, as above fake 4k and/or DLSS on a performance like setting.
I'm running on 3440 x 1440 on 3080/5800X on ultra quality, DLSS on quality, raytraced reflections, VRS off, hairworks ON, Advanced Physx on, tessellation ON and FOV on 4 notches up. The lowest FPS ive seen so far is 77, at the start of the game where Artyom opens the door to everyone.
I can see the FPS Steam overlay in the top corner and have taken some screenshots but the FPS isnt included in the shots, I cannot see a way of shoing the FPS on the screenshots either. Suppose I can take a photo of my screen with my phone. Is there an area where it dips below 60 and I will check what my FPS is?

Its mostly the later areas (forest, caspian in storm. Extreme knocks a good 20-30fps off for no noticeable IQ difference and im not using DLSS which is another big boost.
If I run 1440/Ultra/DLSS quality its 100+fps (and capped to 140 indoors) but I'm not a fan of DLSS I can see the trailing on guns/flying creatures immediately.

The forest area is pretty demanding, even on a 3090 I'll dip below 60fps there when rumnning maxed out at 4K (DLSS quality). The beginning area of Sam's story DLC hits the GPU really hard as well.

For those getting the wrong resolution problem when launching the game, putting Steam into offline mode before launching it seems to work around it. I’ve spoken to their support team and they’ve confirmed the devs are working on a fix.
