Microsoft Flight Sim X demo

I really like it.

There are lots of improvements from FS9 that are really liked, such as better weather systems and realism settings. Graphically it scaled really well on my system even though it isn't exactly brilliant (x800xt, 3000+ at 2.6ghz, 1GB RAM) but having a good defragged HDD helps with the loading of textures etc. However, my FS2004 still looks slightly better :p

Note to all: set fps limit to 30fps in the game options. Not trying to start another "i can see more than 30fps argument" but it is a lot different when talking about flight sims and means that textures load up whilst the CPU isnt having to render an extra 20fps looking at the sky. :)

Going to have a play around later with the config settings and see if i can get any improvements. People at FS2004 are already importing FS9 planes into the game.

You just copy over the planes from FS9 to it. You don't get any panels though. :( Will setting the game to limit to 30fps stop the BSOD?

there a landing well done, wooo

i have never played a flight sim or anything....didnt know what i was doing, all i knew how to do was move up and down, left and right :D

looks worse that it is, was going flat just before that, then i slipped and sort of went nose first lol..... was going for the crash landing lol dont know if you can do it but as i didnt know anything it was the only way

lol if you flipped the image,

ie the nose was at the angle where the tail was you could have been coming in fro a high speed flaired landing,

When landing you should aim to be slow, flaps down 30ish, and the rear wheels should touch down first, then you lower the nose and apply reverse thrust if the plane has it.

Land at 160 knots, Flaps at 20-30 deg and flare over the threshold of the runway. Don't apply reverse thrusters however until you have touched down ;)

Yeah it does :) Did you not watch the video posted? People gettin blown into the sea lol

Has anyone else seen horribly messed up visuals in the distance? It looked like a kind of chequered green mess. I'm hoping the demo is borked, as otherwise it looks like my Video card is playing up.

I'm getting the same, up close the graphics look fine but if you look into the distance everything is messed up. I thought this was because I was using a poor graphics card (geforce 6600).
This is with all the graphics settings set to max.

Just installing it now. I hope its an improvement on FS2004 not only with the graphics. There were just things in 2004 which took away from the realism.

Im a little disappointed already that microsoft haven't scrapped their idea of a plane crash... "Crash"

Oh well lets fire it up...

Don't worry about the graphics in this demo i am sure it will be complete when they launch the game, remember we arn't talking about EA Games ;) :p

Too true. I'm sure it will be looking better by the time of release.
